What You Will Do
As a Classification Software Engineer in the Network Visibility NBAR team, you will:
- Research and analyze application traffic patterns, SaaS services behavior, and internet infrastructure.
- Develop and enhance analytics tools to process and classify large-scale network traffic data.
- Work with massive datasets sourced from network devices globally to detect and classify application traffic and profile endpoints.
- Design and implement efficient algorithms for traffic classification and data-driven network visibility.
- Contribute to critical Cisco solutions such as ThousandEyes Traffic Insights, Cisco SDWAN, Cisco Meraki MX Security, Catalyst Center Assurance, and Endpoint Analytics AI.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve network visibility, assurance, steering/routing policies, and security features.
Minimum Requirements
We are seeking a highly motivated junior software engineer with strong coding and analytical skills:
- Proficiency in Python programming – ability to write clean, efficient, and scalable code.
- Strong data analysis skills – experience with handling, processing, and analyzing large datasets.
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Design – understanding of software design principles and best practices.
- Algorithmic skills – ability to design and implement efficient algorithms for data-driven solutions.
- University Graduation - BSc or MSc in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
Preferred Requirements (desirable):
- Great teammate with excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience with big data frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and large-scale data processing.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, QUIC).
- Knowledge of machine learning or statistical analysis for network traffic classification and monitoring.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS) and distributed computing environments.
- Hands-on experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and data visualization tools.
- Prior work or projects in network security, traffic analysis, or endpoint profiling.
