Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role
To foster our Seller's growth, a consistent cash flow is essential. The Payouts team is responsible for ensuring that Seller's receive their funds when, where and how they want them. We provide platform-level building blocks for the movement of Seller funds on time, every time.
As a software engineer on the Payouts team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the services and infrastructure that move billions of dollars for Square. Reporting to the engineering manager for the team, you will be involved in the technical details of building highly available and reliable services, while also working with product teams to enable Square to rapidly build new capabilities for our merchants and buyers all over the world.
You Will

• Design, develop, and maintain a highly scalable, low-latency platform to move billions of dollars for Square.
• Collaborate with product teams to support Square's rapid expansion of innovative features for our global community of merchants and customers.
• Build and maintain a highly available, cloud-based, distributed system.
• Deliver high-quality solutions quickly without negatively impacting customers.

You Have

• 2+ years of software development experience.
• An advanced degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• A passion for using critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills to deliver remarkable solutions to customers.
• The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, partnering with product leaders, other teams, and subject matter experts.
• Experience creating highly available, scalable, and low-latency global systems.
• A strong commitment to high code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
