Job Description:

In this role, you will be working as a Software Engineer, Intern on the DevOps team and contribute to a feature that enhances the CI/CD experience for developers. DevOps is a core infrastructure team that provides critical support within Genesys. We are responsible for all the internal tools and automation our development team uses to deliver the greatest customer experience on the Genesys platform. Key Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to).
- Attend daily standups with team members for communication, sharing of ideas and for supporting fellow team members in resolving any blocking issues.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback.
- Create and maintain various unit and integration tests for your work.
- Always be on the lookout for improving existing services, either with code changes and/or architecture changes.
- Our feature set sometimes requires collaboration with other teams within DevOps. You will need to effectively communicate and work with other team members when working on features
- The use of metrics and logging is very important to maintain our microservices, this should be valued as a first-class component in both new and existing development.
- Work with team members in designing, developing, debugging and testing features and functionality that include high scalability, availability, and reliability
- A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and take on new tasks as they arise.
Minimum Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related discipline.
- Basic knowledge of version control systems like Git.
- A solid grasp with programming principles and REST concepts.
- Hands on experience with Python.
- Experience using unit testing libs to develop test cases around your own work.
- A strong understanding of cloud automation.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Hands on debugging skills.
Learning Objectives:
- Acquire advanced skills with - Stepfunctions, Lambdas, Cloudwatch, Cloudformation, Terraform and Rest API's
- Familiarize yourself on how logging and metric monitoring are implemented with tools like Newrelic and Sumologic and how they enhance CI/CD pipeline observability
- Gain an understanding of cloud deployment orchestration and strategies in AWS
- Acquire knowledge of automated testing and how it enhances code quality in real time
- Hands on experience working with agile methodologies
Desirable Skills:
- Basic understanding of AWS Stepfunctions and AWS Lambdas
- Programming with at least one modern language preferably Python
- Experience using NoSQL solutions like AWS Dynamo DB
- Experience with Amazon Web Services API like Boto3 or various SDKs
- Experience developing REST APIs.
Compensation:
This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a commission or performance-based bonus opportunities.
