About the team
The Business Intelligence team at Cloudflare is responsible for building a centralized cloud data lake and an analytics platform that enables our internal Business Partners and Product teams with actionable insights. Our goal is to democratize data, support Cloudflare's critical business needs, provide reporting and analytics via self-service data applications to fuel existing and new business critical initiatives.
About the Internship Program
The ideal summer intern is passionate about making the Internet a better place. You will work with strong engineers. You will push code this summer that touches hundreds of millions of web surfers. We like to get things done, so we are looking for interns who are curious and can take on and complete projects. What would you do as a Cloudflare intern?
- Ship and deliver projects over 12-16 weeks with autonomy and support.
- Work cross-functionally with various teams.
- Be assigned a mentor to guide you through the internship and help with career goals.
- Build your network across the company through our various in and out of office socials, networking programs, Employee Resource Group (ERG) programs, and Activity Groups (Cat or dog lovers, we've got communities for you! @Catflare @Doggos).
- Present your project to the entire company at the end of the internship.

About the role
We are looking for a Software Engineer intern to join our Lisbon team to scale our development efforts on network availability insights initiatives. You will work on building full stack data applications which empowers our Product and Engineering team. As all the applications we build are self initiated by the team, you will have the opportunity to get involved from designing features all the way to implementation. In addition, you will work closely with the Data Engineers on the team to add new features and maintain our data pipelines written in Scala and Go. You can expect to interact with various languages and technologies including, but not limited to Go, React, Postgres and Clickhouse.
What you'll do
- Design and implement key features of our internal applications
- Work closely with a cross functional team to design features and solutions that solve critical business problems
- Contribute in improving an evolving platform architecture for scalability, observability and reliability
- Continuously involved in knowledge sharing and mentorship
Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience
- B.S. or M.S in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative fields
- Experience working with Go, Python, Java, or equivalent programming languages
- Knowledge of SQL and common relational database systems such as PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Experience with Javascript, Typescript, and React
- Excellent communication & problem solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams and work through ambiguous business requirements
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with container based deployments such as Docker & Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or something similar
