Flatiron Health is looking for a Software Engineer to help us accomplish our mission of improving and extending lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer. In this role you will work on the Flatiron Clinical Pipe product team. Flatiron Clinical Pipe is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) tool for zero-transcription oncology clinical trial study data capture from anywhere in the patient's medical record.
What you will do
Learning from the experience of every cancer patient involves building systems that are secure, scalable, compliant, and have excellent UIs. We welcome backend engineers, full-stack engineers, and aspiring architects. In this role you will develop new features, including designing software and infrastructure solutions, implementing those solutions, testing them, and deploying them. In addition, you'll also:
- Independently resolve bugs, including investigating root causes, designing fixes, implementing fixes, writing automated unit tests, writing automated end-to-end tests, and deploying changes.
- Document system elements, including communicating key design attributes clearly in written English, sometimes with supporting diagrams.
- Perform design and code reviews.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other internal stakeholders to deliver solutions that solve the problems of Clinical Pipe's end users.
- Participate in daily standups, bi-weekly sprint meetings, and other team ceremonies.
Flatiron engineers work day-to-day with oncologists, product leaders, and data experts. In this role you'll have a chance to expand your communication skills and have mentorship outside of engineering.
Who You Are

In addition, you're a software engineer with 3+ years of experience developing robust and scalable solutions to challenging problems. You're passionate about using technology and building elegant scalable systems. You have a nose for value and empathy for your internal and external customers. You proactively identify problems that have a high impact on the business. Additionally, you have:
- You hold a bachelors, masters, and/or Ph.D. in computer science or a related field
- 3+ years experience developing full stack software applications
- 3+ years experience programming in Node.js, Javascript, Go, Python, C#, or a similar language
- 3+ years experience using relational databases like PostgreSQL or NoSQL databases like DynamoDB
- Strong communication skills
Extra Credit
- 3+ years experience configuring infrastructure using Terraform
- 3+ years experience working in React
- Experience using AWS, including AWS DynamoDB, Lambda, ECR, and RDS.
- Experience in Ruby and writing tests using Selenium, Cucumber, and Gherkin
- Experience using JIRA, Git, Datadog, Bitbucket, Confluence, and Miro
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment
This is a temporary contract role with a maximum employment length of 12 months.

Job Compensation Range
Hourly Range: $50 - $75
