What You'll Do
In this role, you'll work closely with Revenue Managers, other members of the Accounting team, as well as cross-functionally, to ensure Flatiron's revenue recognition policies, procedures, and reporting are in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS. You will be involved in cross-functional projects and solving problems to reduce potential risks while influencing and collaborating with others towards ultimate success. Flatiron is looking for an individual who is excited to work in a fast-paced environment and determined to get the job done. You'll also:
- Review customer contracts for revenue recognition to ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS 15. This includes creating billing and revenue schedules at the inception of the contract and continually maintaining revenue recognition, deferred revenue, unbilled accounts receivables.
- Assist in the month-end close for revenue accounts in NetSuite, Flatiron's ERP system, and Salesforce, Flatiron's CRM and CPQ system, including validating orders and quotes, preparing journal entries, analyses, account reconciliations and roll-forwards, as well as assisting with on-going enhancements to our close process.
- Prepare month end and quarter end analytical and flux analyses as part of the procedures to gain comfort over the financials.
- Research and analyze complex revenue recognition issues, as necessary. Prepare financial analyses and memos (i.e. annual fair value analyses of all product offerings, ad-hoc analyses to support business decisions, documentation of revenue policies).
- Collaborate with cross functional teams (Finance Operations & Transformation, Business Operations, Strategic Finance, Legal, Account Management, Business Development, Sales and Corporate Applications) to improve existing processes and support business needs as well as assist with new business integrations into QTC processes and systems.
- Ensure appropriate application and collection of sales and use tax to customer contracts.
- Work closely with external auditors to support our annual financial statement audits, as applicable.
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Other responsibilities include ad hoc analysis and special projects.
Who You Are
You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who values the opportunity to think beyond the way things are. In addition, you're a resourceful Accountant with 3-4 years of experience in Big Four or national public accounting firms OR 4+ years of combined experience in public accounting and industry with experience in Revenue Technical Accounting.
- You are a CPA and hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- You have experience in the application of ASC 606 or IFRS 15
- You have proficiency with technical research and take initiative to determine accounting impact
- You're able to manage multiple competing priorities and believe proactive communication is essential
- You are a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to think creatively, solution unexpected issues and work independently to meet deadlines
- You have a balanced combination of revenue accounting expertise with a proven track record of solving problems to reduce potential risks
- You have excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
- You have strong Microsoft Excel skills (i.e. vlookups, index/match, sumifs, pivot tables, subtotals, etc)
Extra Credit
- You have experience with Netsuite ERP and Salesforce
- You have advanced technical and operational knowledge related to Clinical Research Organizations, measure of progress revenue recognition, data licensing, and/or SaaS revenue recognition
- You are fluent in German or Japanese

The annual pay range reflected above for this position is based on the preferred primary location of the role which is listed in the job description. Salary ranges for other locations vary from the range reflected above. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus and equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
