Software Engineer, Cloud Developer
This position is Hybrid. 2 days in the San Jose office and 3 days remote.
Job Description:
The Cloud Developer builds from the ground up to meet the needs of mission-critical applications and is always looking for innovative approaches to deliver end-to-end technical solutions to solve customer problems.
Brings technical thinking to break down complex data and to engineer innovative ideas and methods for solving, prototyping, designing, and implementing cloud-based solutions.
Collaborates with project managers and development partners to ensure effective and efficient delivery, deployment, operation, monitoring, and support of Cloud engagements.
The Cloud Developer provides business value expertise to drive the development of innovative service offerings that enrich HPE's Cloud Services portfolio across multiple systems, platforms, and applications.
Contributions include applying developed subject matter expertise to solve common and sometimes complex technical problems and recommending alternatives where necessary.
Your strong technical skills and independent problem-solving abilities will enable you to tackle complex issues, while your leadership and collaborative approach will guide the team in decision-making processes and ensure effective execution.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in cloud development, architecture/system design & improving best practices.
- Proficient in programming languages (3+ yrs) such as Go, Python or Rust, with the ability to write clean, scalable code.
- 3+ years’ experience in designing and developing highly scalable and distributed cloud software applications
- Demonstrated expertise working with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
- Working knowledge of large event stream platforms (Kafka or similar message bus architecture)
- Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, and infrastructure services.
- Familiar with databases
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to guide team decision-making, manage projects, and mentor peers.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Additional skills:
- Knowledge of AAA (Radius), Systems programming, Linux, Networking
- Hands-on experience with automation tools , Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible), concepts around Disaster Recovery and familiarity with version control.
- Cloud Architectures, Cross Domain Knowledge, Design Thinking, Development Fundamentals, Distributed Computing, Microservices Fluency, Full Stack Development, Security-First Mindset.
