Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer II who has a passion for innovative solutions and delighting customers. As a member of the Frontend Engineering Team, the incumbent will design and build APIs for Mobile and Web applications for Customers, Field Technicians and Agents. The Developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to the creation of a best-in-class Frontend experience.
Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices to support various business functions and ensure seamless integration across systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including Product, Design, and DevOps) to create robust API architectures and efficient backend systems.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and high-quality code using Go, Python, and Java.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirement gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Optimize API performance and scalability while ensuring reliability and fault tolerance in production environments.
  • Lead technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions to ensure alignment with long-term business goals.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks in existing systems and recommend solutions to improve performance and scalability.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and promote best practices in software development.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies, trends, and frameworks in API development, microservices, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Conduct comprehensive code reviews, ensuring high code quality and adherence to best practices.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment through effective communication, conflict resolution, and influence across technical and cross-functional groups.
  • Create comprehensive documentation, including workflow documents, presentations, and technical communications tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and alignment with company objectives.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on API development and backend systems.
  • Expertise in at least one backend programming language: Go, Python, or Java.
  • Strong experience with RESTful API design, and knowledge of industry standards for security, versioning, and documentation.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and familiarity with deploying microservices and APIs in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Solid understanding of database systems (SQL/NoSQL) and experience in integrating APIs with data storage solutions.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI).
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Comfortable working with live production systems, debugging issues, and implementing corrective actions with safety measures in place.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $100,246.00 - $164,689.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
