About the Role

As a Software Project Lead at Harman, you are responsible for successfully running the Software part of our Intelligent Cockpit Products and ensure project deliveries in time, budget, and quality. You are the face to the customer for a group of software domain topics.
What You Will Do

  • You will lead a dedicated SW Team and being responsible to deliver SW for Customer programs in high quality, in time and in cost for a group of functional domains.
  • Acts as a role model in terms of leadership and code of business conduct in Project Management
  • Understand potential customer’s expectation clearly and lead engineering teams to deliver according to customer expectation in terms of timing and quality.
  • Report and explain technical matters to customer clearly, negotiate and communicate with customer to reach mutual agreements and conclusions.
  • Ensure high level of collaboration and transparency between the various entities involved with project execution, including but not limited to the CG, SW/HW domain and Test.
  • Own and monitor the project metrics and ensure they stay healthy. Risks are identified earlier, and mitigation actions are initiated in a timely and effective manner.
  • Management reporting internally incl. SBU Leader (Director level and above)
  • Constantly tracks project key performance indicators and sets priorities for optimization.
  • Works with procurement to ensure license and royalty prices are best-in-class and correct.
  • Support VAVE initiatives with ideas and research.

What You Need

  • University degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering, Information Technology) or Business Administration or appropriate graduation
  • Several successfully steered high value, complex or strategic projects in global development.
  • Ability to plan and manage technical projects and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to understand complex systems, to break down and structure into reasonable parts so dependencies become visible, describable, and thus manageable.
  • Ability to define, pursue and reach strong and measurable individual aims corresponding to general HARMAN strategy and to integrate people, to resolve conflicts, broad intercultural experience, Excellent communication skill.
  • Experience to work and directly communicate to Japanese-OEM with excellent presentation and explanation skills about technical matters.

What is Nice to Have

  • Certified Project Management Professional (e.g. PMP).
  • Automotive experience
  • Projects implemented with Automotive ASPICE Level 3
  • Experience in real-time embedded software and system development.

  • Be willing to travel up to 20% domestic and international travel.
  • Be willing to work in an office in Tokyo (Nagoya as option), Japan.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation/Aptitude Test as a condition of employment.
