Role Overview

Welcome to Common Engineering Services (CES) at F5! CES plays a critical role in managing and maintaining the systems that F5 employees rely on daily and throughout the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). CES empowers the engineering team by managing key services such as GitLab (On-prem/SaaS), GitLab Runners, GitHub, Artifactory, Checkmarx, Mend, Vault, Jira, Confluence, Azure and more.

As an SRE-III in the CES team, you will be responsible for overseeing all CES services, with a focus on leading efforts for Artifactory, GitLab, and GitLab Runners development in India. Your role will include the development, automation, monitoring, and support of CES services. To succeed in this position, you must possess strong, demonstrable SRE skills along with experience in scripting and programming languages.

What you will do

  • 6+ years of relevant working experience as a Site Reliability Engineer.
  • Must Have: Administration Experience in services like Gitlab, Gitlab Runners (pipelines), Jfrog Artifactory, Checkmarx is required.
  • Must Have: Experience in containerization using Docker and Kubernetes administration experience, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting is required.
  • Must Have: Automation: Adapt an automation approach to solving problems.
    • Experience in scripting with any of Shell / Python is required.
    • Experience in any configuration tools like Ansible/ Chef / Puppet is required.
    • Exposure to any programming language is a plus.
  • Monitoring: Experience in any Monitoring tool like – Datadog / Prometheus / Grafana / Splunk is required.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the cloud providers - AWS/Azure.
  • Exposure to Vulnerability management tools, like Qualys is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues, including systems failures, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive knowledge bases for system documentation, including standard operating procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting guides, to support end-users' ability to use the systems effectively.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of related experience in SRE role. Or an advanced degree with relevant work experience in SRE role.
  • Proficiency with at least one scripting and programming language.
  • A code-first approach to managing CES services.
  • Proficiency in Agile delivery, SRE principles and associated tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge in technology systems including infrastructure or SaaS platforms.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory guidelines.
  • Understanding cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as an integral member of an agile team
  • Proficient communication, planning, problem solving, trouble shooting, and organization skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines
