General Summary
The ShotGrid/Flow Pipeline Technical Director (TD) will work closely with artists, Sr Engineers, and Technical Directors to design, develop, and deploy custom software tools that extend the use of our ShotGrid/Flow-based production tracking system. As a member of the Studio Pipeline team, this position will work directly with artists, coordinators, and managers in all production departments including Production Management, Puppet and Set Fabrication, Stage/Camera, Rapid Prototype, Story/Editorial, VFX, Marketing, and Media & Archive Services. In addition to working individually and with a sprint team, this position will play a key role in maintaining technical direction and standard practices.
Job Functions
- Extend and integrate the use of Autodesk ShotGrid/Flow and other database systems to meet production needs, including browser-hosted and desktop-native applications.
- Work both independently and cooperatively with Sr Engineers and Technical Directors to extend existing tools, develop new features, and design new applications.
- Work with non-technical end users to help define requirements for new tools and pipeline processes to solve production problems.
- Develop test plans and roll out new ShotGrid/Flow-based workflows and tools, and work with end users to improve the usability of these tools.
- Follow the processes and procedures of the software development life cycle, build and release system, documentation and testing standards used in Technology.
- Support existing tools via bug fixes and version updates.
- Support applications through documentation, training, and handling questions.
- Support users on MacOS and Linux.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience developing custom tools and workflows with ShotGrid/Flow in an animation or VFX studio environment.
- Experience developing with one or more of these languages: Python, PyQt/PySide2, JavaScript.
- Experience with ShotGrid/Flow’s Python and REST APIs, native UI, and automation strategies.
- Experience with SCM tools such as Git and GitLab.
- Experience with web-app technologies such as Django, Flask, React, Node.js.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Visual Studio and Postman.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab runners, Jenkins, a plus.
- Experience with Cloud Services such AWS Lambda and Azure Function, a plus.
