This position is for an Analyst I in the Shared Accounting Services Unclaimed Property area. This position is responsible for following a detailed schedule for importing and exporting data, using advanced Excel knowledge to accomplish unclaimed property tasks, obtaining data, updating the Unclaimed Property Compliance System (UPCS) properties with data, reconciling UPCS to the general ledger (SAP), researching reconciling items, creating state filings or generating due diligence letters in the Unclaimed Property Compliance System. It also includes processing claims, communicating with internal and external customers and other duties as assigned. This position requires focus and attention to detail, with multiple exceptions and requirements that must be adhered to in order to be successful.
40% 1. Prepare and import files to UPCS. Create and upload journal entries. Export files to co-insurance companies. Reconcile UPCS to SAP. Research and resolve reconciling items
15% 2. Generate due diligence letters, certified letters, and create NY advertisement
15% 3. Review properties that will escheat within the next quarter. Assist with the periodic review of changes to state requirements and updating job aids as state requirements change. Prepare and file state reports
15% 4. Generate reports from UPCS and format as Excel spreadsheets to submit as data requests. When the new data is provided, format it into multiple spreadsheets to update into existing properties in UPCS. Use Excel formulas to calculate additional interest for death claims in UPCS periodically
10% 5. Process claims. Communicate to customers. Process checks and journal entries

Qualifications/Education
•College degree with a concentration in accounting or related field
•Two years of work experience in accounting, insurance, or unclaimed property processing
•Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word and advanced knowledge of Excel. Candidate will be expected to demonstrate Excel abilities
•Ability to meet critical deadlines and handle several projects simultaneously
•Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
•Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
•Organized. Must be able to follow very detailed processes
•High attention to detail and focus on quality
•Ability to perform accounting reconciliations, to analyze and to resolve reconciling items
•Self-motivated and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development
