The SEO and Digital Content Specialist will play a key role in accelerating the growth of Ascensus’s business, reputation and brand familiarity, focusing on strategic support and tactical execution specific to the company’s public websites. The position will develop, coordinate, analyze and optimize content to drive specific commercial outcomes and improve reputation and brand familiarity across Ascensus’ four lines of business. This associate will lead SEO and content strategies to support the sales process by improving target audience organic engagement with Ascensus’ public websites through SEO and content strategy. Internal stakeholder relationship management is also a large part of this role.   

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive SEO strategy to drive targeted, high-quality traffic to the website, focusing on lead generation and conversion.
  • Conduct keyword research and optimize website content (landing pages, blog posts, product pages) for relevant search terms, ensuring that SEO best practices are applied across the site.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of SEO, including site architecture, URL structures, page speed, mobile responsiveness, and schema markup. Collaborate with the development team to implement technical improvements.
  • Work with marketing teams to ensure all written content is optimized for SEO, including targeting relevant keywords, ensuring readability, and applying internal linking strategies.
  • Use SEO tools to monitor website performance, track keyword rankings, and analyze organic traffic. Provide regular reports to key stakeholders on SEO performance, insights, and opportunities.
  • Guide creative teams’ execution of the marketing plan tactics within budget parameters.
  • Collaborate with Director, Public Digital Products to distribute work among available resources
  • Implement required procedures for effective development and maintenance of digital content and placement
  • Manage high profile public website projects to ensure our positioning is compelling and differentiating to connect with our target audience
  • Monitor competitive positioning, stay current on industry trends and regulatory issues that impact our business
  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned
  • Protect and securely handle all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • No direct reports at the point of hire

Section 3:  Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in SEO management, ideally within the financial services, retirement planning, or B2B sectors.
  • Expertise in SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or similar platforms.
  • Expert in writing for SEO, SEO strategy and optimization tactics
  • Strong understanding of technical SEO, including site structure, crawlability, indexability, and page speed optimization
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and website CMS (Umbraco) is a plus.
  • Understanding of SEO-related aspects of paid search (PPC) and how they intersect with organic search efforts.
  • Retirement industry marketing experience or financial services marketing experience preferred but not essential
  • Deep understanding of (or strong interest in) the retirement industry, the advisor sales channel, and the role of TPAs in the market
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to demonstrate interpretation capabilities and apply learnings across products and channels.
  • Exceptional research and writing skills; proficiency in data-driven strategy development and reporting 
  • Understanding of digital marketing strategies and tools
  • Ability to plan effectively and execute complex projects
  • Relationship-building skills and a thoughtful consultative approach
  • Must be strong in web project management and able to work with web operations and development teams.
  • Ability to partner with and influence key stakeholders and leaders 
  • Strong project management abilities
  • Must be available for travel as business requires
