Job Description
Job Description:
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced team leader for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force's acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system, known as the Sentinel ICBM Program.
The Sentinel Program (formerly known as GBSD) is an enormous and complex "Mega-Project" replacing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. Without a doubt, Sentinel is one of the Department of Defense's (DoD's) most important acquisition efforts for the next decade. It includes a complete refurbishment or replacement of more than five hundred aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly designed, technologically-advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command & control system (including an updated airborne launch capability) as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the next 4-5 decades. This is a long-term project with the weapon system anticipated to deploy over a nine-year period beginning in the late 2020s and remaining operational until at least 2075.
Job Description:
This position will directly support the Sentinel Program's Command & Launch (C&L) Branch as they acquire the weapon system command & control capabilities for the next generation ICBM. Duties of the Launch Systems Section lead include providing expert advice and support to Sentinel program leaders throughout the acquisition cycle. Areas of responsibility that fall under the Launch System Section include:

  • Actuation & mechanical systems (e.g., missile suspension system, launcher closure door system, ballistic gas generators, missile umbilical retractors, etc.)
  • Power distribution & endurance systems (e.g., backup generators, emergency batteries, HVAC systems, etc.)
  • Physical security systems (e.g., motion sensors, visual sensors, delay features, etc.)

Specifically, this team leader will be responsible for effectively managing a team of direct-report engineers and project managers who directly support the Air Force customer in evaluating the Sentinel prime contractor's Launch Systems design. This experienced team leader must have exceptional attention-to-detail skills and a demonstrated ability to drive team performance through coaching, mentoring, and training.
Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.
