The Senior Visual Designer is responsible for the visual design aspects of projects, including managing the design process, creating visual concepts, and ensuring brand consistency. They may work on a variety of projects, including social media, digital, print, web and video.
Key Responsibilities:
- Brand Consistency: Supports branding consistency and photo image quality improvement initiative for Newsweek.com website, social media and YouTube channels. Finds and replaces off brand and inappropriate imagery. Assist Managing Editor, Creative with training and providing editors and multimedia team with regular consistent feedback on bespoke images and visual elements. Creates branding and style guidelines at direction of creative team.
- Create Original Designs: Creates digital bespoke imagery, charts, maps, infographics, data visualizations and branded visuals for editorial, sponsored/commercial special projects, events, feature articles and videos. Designs logos, branding elements, web designs/elements, graphics and event visuals.
- Photo Editing: Post-production and manipulation of photographs taken at events and for special projects.
- Illustrations, storyboards and motion graphics designs: Creates storyboards to convey animation concepts for videos, which includes graphics, photos, typography elements, characters, objects, scenery, and backgrounds. Designs graphic elements for live filming videos, sizzle reels and highlight videos. Creates visuals and design elements for live filming/event videos.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications:
- Juggling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines
- Expert understanding of Adobe Creative Site Tools, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, Figma and InDesign
- Strong sketching and creative/graphic design skills to flesh out ideas and concepts.
- Understanding of design principles, including layout, typography, and color theory.
- Good communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, coworkers, and explaining design concepts to a general audience.
- Familiarity with AI tools used to general graphic designs and other visuals.
- Familiarity with U.S. news & trends.
- Must be available to work flexible hours.
- Must possess excellent English speaking and writing skills
