This role has been designed as ‘’Onsite’ with an expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE office.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Virtualisation Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with virtualization technologies including VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM).

In this role, you will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining the company’s infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and scalability across virtualized environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Virtualization Management: Implement, and manage virtualized environments using VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) to ensure efficient resource allocation, high availability, and optimal system performance.

• Server & Infrastructure Administration: Oversee the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of physical and virtual servers, ensuring that all systems are aligned with business objectives and performance requirements.

• Troubleshooting & Optimization: Diagnose and resolve issues related to virtual machines, hypervisors, and underlying infrastructure. Continuously analyze system performance and apply optimizations to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.

• Automation & Scripting: Leverage automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible, etc.) to streamline processes such as provisioning, monitoring, and management of virtual environments.

• System Integration: Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate infrastructure solutions with existing systems and applications, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruption to business functions.

• Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security protocols and best practices for the virtualized environment, ensuring compliance with relevant industry regulations and company policies.

• Capacity Planning & Scaling: Forecast infrastructure needs based on growth projections and business demands, planning for necessary system upgrades and expansions to accommodate future workloads.

• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, network setups, and troubleshooting procedures. Generate reports for performance metrics and capacity usage.

• Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams, assisting with troubleshooting and issue resolution within the virtualized infrastructure.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Technical Expertise:

  • Proficient in VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V management, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Strong understanding of Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) for managing and orchestrating virtualized resources.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools, performance analysis, and capacity planning.

  • Experience with storage management and network configuration within virtualized environments.

• Certifications (Preferred):

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

  • Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager certification (or equivalent)

Additional Skills:

• Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex virtualization and infrastructure issues.

• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation, reports, and collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail in maintaining system configurations and ensuring high levels of system performance and availability.

• Collaboration: Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain infrastructure solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and integration with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

• Understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, and network security.

• Knowledge of IT security practices related to virtualized infrastructures.
