The Job/What You'll Do:
As AssetMark embarks on its next phase of growth, we are seeking a Head of Product Engineering to lead and scale our software engineering function. This is a newly created executive leadership role that will be responsible for driving the evolution of our technology stack while championing the engineering discipline and fostering a culture of engineering excellence. The role reports directly into the Chief Technology and Product Officer.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned technology leader with deep expertise in wealth management or asset management, a proven track record in product-centric engineering, and the ability to partner closely with product management to deliver best-in-class digital experiences.
We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to one of our office locations in Concord, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Atlanta, GA, or Charlotte, NC
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Leadership & Strategy: Build, lead, and scale a world-class software engineering team with a globally distributed footprint, instilling a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Technology Modernization: Develop and execute a strategic roadmap to evolve AssetMark’s current tech stack to a modern centralized platform based on microservices, APIs, and modular front-ends.
- Product Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product Management to align engineering efforts with business goals, ensuring seamless delivery of platform capabilities that enhance the advisor and client experience.
- Operational Excellence: Establish best practices in software development, DevOps, QA, and security, ensuring high reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems.
- Talent Development: Mentor and grow engineering leaders and individual contributors, fostering a high-performance engineering organization.
- Execution & Delivery: Drive high-quality software releases with efficient, agile development methodologies while balancing speed-to-market with long-term scalability.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Partner with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, data, and security teams to ensure technology decisions support the broader enterprise vision.
- Champion of Engineering & QA Disciplines: Establish a strong engineering culture that emphasizes continuous learning, technical craftsmanship, and accountability.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep expertise in wealth management or asset management technology.
- Proven experience leading large engineering teams (100+ engineers) in distributed/global environments.
- Track record of modernizing legacy technology stacks and leading digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, microservices, API-driven development, DevOps, and CI/CD.
- Passion for building engineering culture, mentoring leaders, recruiting senior and junior talent, and driving high-impact teams.
- Exceptional ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, particularly Product Management.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, with 8+ years in engineering leadership roles.

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $150,000-$165,000.
This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
