The Role
The Senior UX/UI Web Designer at MongoDB will lead design projects, conducting user research, creating wireframes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver web designs that enhance user experience and product awareness.
Summary Generated by Built In

MongoDB’s mission is to empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build and run applications anywhere—on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 new developers signing up to use MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

About the Role

As a member of MongoDB’s Web Experiences team, the Senior UX/UI Web Designer will create experiences that inspire developers and business decision-makers to explore how they can unlock innovation and adapt in the fast-paced AI landscape with MongoDB. You will be responsible for leading your projects through the complete design lifecycle, including discovery (UX research), wireframing, high-fidelity designs, prototyping, and user testing of new web experiences that promote awareness and adoption of MongoDB’s products and services.

We seek a user-focused, curious, and data-driven individual. This highly visible role requires natural leadership, strong communication and presentation skills, and the self-confidence to collaborate across distributed teams to create a unifying design vision.

You must have a solid grasp of design thinking methodology, which encompasses defining problems, fostering shared understanding, and conducting research and testing to generate user insights and fuel the iterative design process.

This role can be based out of our New York City office or remotely in North America.

In particular, you will

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of web strategists, brand designers, developers, product marketers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements and user insights into actionable web designs for experimentation and implementation
  • Conduct user interviews, surveys, and usability tests to build empathy and gather insights into user behaviors and preferences, and use those insights to inform design direction
  • Create user flows and wireframes to demonstrate user interactions and site functionality
  • Create visually appealing and consistent responsive web designs that align with brand guidelines
  • Contribute to and maintain design systems and component libraries
  • Promote and apply accessibility best practices to ensure an inclusive user experience
  • Effectively communicate design decisions and rationale to cross-functional teams
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest UI/UX trends and web technologies

Requirements

  • Motivated self-starter with an eye for details. Must be able to work independently on multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a web designer, with a firm grasp of the design thinking process, user/product discovery techniques, and UX research principles and best practices
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in applying UX research, interaction design, and visual design
  • Figma is required; Rive (web animation) is nice-to-have. We use usertesting.com as our main user research platform
  • Familiarity with atomic design methodology and design systems
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related discipline, is preferred but not required
