About the role
The Senior UX Researcher is a crucial member of the Research Team at Adaptavist, which utilizes a diverse array of research methodologies and evaluation tools to inform product development across different business units. The team focuses on User Experience and Market Research to foster informed decision-making, discover new market opportunities, assess how our products stack up against competitors, guide product development, and refine our current products to ensure they adhere to the highest standards of usability and usefulness.
The main responsibility of this role is to provide actionable insights for product development and promote a user-centered culture at Adaptavist. As a senior position, this role should support strategic informed choices across multiple products within its area of responsibility, working closely with senior stakeholders to implement a user-centered, evideninformed conclusions culture. It requires strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research techniques and the ability to innovate and introduce new methods as needed. Other important skills include structuring projects to align with business goals and ensuring effective collaboration so that research recommeded informed judgements to concrete changes in the product roadmap. Additionally, mentoring junior researchers, enabling other stakeholders to conduct research, coordinating external resources, enhancing research practices, and ensuring that projects stay on track and meet deadlines are also key responsibilities of this role.
While this position is listed as remote, occasional in-person presence at the office a few times a month is required; hence, we are looking for someone close to London.
About the team
You will be joining Adaptavist's research team, which is composed of 7 members globally. This team works as a service within Adaptavist through the UX Research Service Desk. Their mission is to help product teams build the right products and make sure that they are useful and usable. This team also helps Adaptavist become more customer-centric, synthesising customer insights to inform business conclusions, and product development and ensuring that our product line fits customers' needs.
The Senior UX Researcher will conduct research that provides meaningful direction for product development at both strategic and tactical levels. This role typically has an area of responsibility focused on a specific problem area, practice, or business unit, with key areas of focus being:
What you'll be doing
- Oversee multiple projects, coordinate stakeholder contributions, and secure necessary resources for their completion.
- Align project goals with business objectives by working closely with cross-functional stakeholders. Agree on deadlines, budgets, and delivery schedules.
- Help product teams proactively plan research needs and mentor junior researchers (as well as people who do research; PWDRs) to produce reliable outputs.
- Assisting product managers in articulating a product vision that provides sufficient inputs for conducting research.
- Achieve research outcomes by integrating findings into the product roadmap, influencing both strategic direction and thoughtful actions.
- Partner closely with UX designers to deliver actionable research outputs and serve as the "voice of the user" to disambiguate design issues.
- Communicating bandwidth limitations to stakeholders, enforcing SLAs, and managing project support autonomously.
- Coordinate third-party research contributions, clearly defining roles and responsibilities in complex projects.
- Drive foundational and strategic research projects, aligning them with business objectives and OKRs.
- Balance and allocate research resources to ensure rapid progress and high-quality standards across multiple projects.
- Contribute to building a participant database, evaluate recruitment needs proactively, and communicate with ResOps to establish recruitment pathways ahead of time.
- Create high-quality deliverables that spark actionable results at strategic and tactical levels., striving for outcomes rather than output.
- Undertake projects that inform multiple product teams and connect research initiatives, surfacing insights to guide the business unit and promote awareness among leadership.
- Develop a deep understanding of user needs within a practice or problem area, becoming an expert in that domain.

What we're looking for
- Significant experience in UX research, preferably in a senior or leadership role.
- Proven ability to oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
- Expertise in aligning research projects with business objectives and demonstrating the return on investment (ROI) of research activities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and storytelling skills for effective collaboration with senior stakeholders in leadership positions.
- Experience guiding and mentoring junior researchers and team members.
- Deep understanding of UX research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g., interviews, surveys, focus groups, usability testing).
- Strong analytical skills to interpret research findings and communicate them effectively.
- Ability to integrate research findings into the product roadmap and influence both strategic and tactical decisions in product or service development.
- Ability to lead and inspire teamwork across departments, championing customer-focused research to drive innovation and quality.
- Skilled in coordinating stakeholder contributions and securing necessary resources.
- Experienced in fast-paced SaaS tech environments.
- Proficient in tools like Confluence, Jira, and research platforms such as Userinterviews, Prolific, Maze, and SurveyMonkey.
- Experience in popularizing research through advanced presentation and storytelling skills to effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
- Solid background in Agile methodologies to enhance teamwork and project agility.
- Advanced data analysis skills and knowledge of statistical methods beyond basic analysis, including regression analysis and multivariate testing.
- Well-versed in accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to ensure product usability for people with disabilities.
