About the Role
Workday is looking for a highly motivated Senior Technical Accounting Manager to join a collaborative and growing team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, great communicator, and detailed-oriented team player that possesses a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP with proven ability to research and analyze complex accounting issues and enjoys collaborating with people with a diverse set of talents in a dynamic fast-paced environment. This senior level Individual Contributor (non people leader / manager) position will report to the Assistant Controller. Through involvement with complex and unusual transactions, accounting for venture investments, and mergers & acquisitions activity, this position will play a critical role in the accounting processes and have high visibility to finance leadership within the organization.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Conduct and document technical accounting research related to new business initiatives and/or complex transactions

Proactively collaborate cross-functionally to ensure that accounting and budget impacts of significant and unusual transactions are communicated timely and accounted for properly

Perform and document quarterly/annual controls
-
Lead the evaluation and adoption of new accounting pronouncements, including collaborating with the broader finance organization to ensure effective implementation

Proactively work with external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters
-
Establish, maintain and educate others on accounting policies and procedures
-
Promote teamwork between finance groups and departments
-
Support SOX compliance efforts and assist in improvement of control procedures

Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
-
Support month-end close processes
-
Perform various ad hoc projects as requested
About You
Basic Qualifications:
-
Minimum 8 years+ of accounting experience (must include minimum of 6 years within public accounting)

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

CPA required
Other Qualifications:
-
Software and/or SaaS industry experience preferred

Experience using large ERP system preferred

Proficiency with MS Excel

Proven experience in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment to meet tight timelines while ensuring high-quality deliverables

High attention to details and accuracy, excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to tailor communication of technical concepts and opinions to various audiences

Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, and ability to learn new processes quickly

Workday Pay Transparency Statement
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
