Senior Tax Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven Senior Tax Analyst to join and help build our EMEA Tax team. In this role you will be heavily involved in various tax compliance, tax accounting, VAT advisory, tax audit and even tax strategy matters in UL Solution's EMEA region, including Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, Finland, and the UK.
As a Senior Tax Analyst, you will have the opportunity to play a crucial and broadly visible role and help provide valuable insights to support the decision-making processes, while also being involved in the execution. At UL Solutions, we are looking for someone who wants to improve and diversify their tax skills across the EMEA region and is willing to translate experience to non-tax skilled employees and help improve processes.
In this role, you will have the rare opportunity to diversify your skillset while having the support of and a direct reporting line to the Senior Tax Manager - EMEA, who is also located in Arnhem. This hybrid role requires working three days per week in our Arnhem, NL office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Quarterly and year-end preparation/review of EMEA legal entity income tax provisions in accordance with US and local statutory GAAP and support local accounting teams with related tax accounting work, including reconciliations of income tax payable accounts and return-to-provision computations.• Stay current on tax law changes and tax technical matters that are relevant to ULS across the EMEA region and summarize for senior tax management.• Ensure analytics and accuracy of the effective tax rate components and deferred tax balances for EMEA affiliate entities and identify tax risks that may require tax reserves.• Help manage the EMEA income tax compliance process by collaborating with outsourced tax preparers/advisors to file local country income tax returns on an accurate and timely basis.• Assist in local country tax audits as required and in partnership with local accounting teams to best position the Company for successful audit resolutions.• Assist with cash tax forecasting for UL Solution's EMEA affiliate entities.• Deliver operational excellence through process improvement, leveraging best practices, supporting the evolution of tax software tools, and promoting automation and technology to enhance efficiency and scalability.• Support the Senior Tax Manager on, tax planning, internal restructurings, VAT, and new business initiatives as needed.• Communicate and explain tax results to finance peers in a concise and comprehendible manner.• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal partners and peers in accounting/finance, external consultants, and statutory auditors.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Dutch bachelor's degree in Fiscal Economics/ Dutch Tax Law from a University (or a University of Applied Sciences).• Approx. 6+ years of diverse tax experience in a fast-paced environment, with a preference for either Big 4 accounting firm experience and/or US-based multinational companies reporting under US GAAP.• Understanding of common income tax compliance matters.• Experience with/knowledge of tax accounting rules and tax provision computations (US GAAP and/or IFRS preferred).• Experience with/interest in being involved in VAT matters• Ability to interpret domestic and international tax concepts and regulations and come up with a proposal.• Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.• The ability to be direct, resourceful, meticulous, and results-driven.• The ability to multi-task, effective project management skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams in different locations. • Excellent writing and communication skills in both Dutch and English. • Willingness to learn and be involved in other taxes in the EMEA region, while also helping the Tax analyst grow alongside you.
