Job Summary
As a Senior Windows Systems Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our enterprise Windows environment. You will also be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab. A significant part of your role will include reviewing, cleaning up, and streamlining our comprehensive Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to ensure optimal performance and manageability. Additionally, you will help establish and enforce policies, processes, and documentation standards to improve our operational efficiency and effectiveness. This includes implementing Markdown-based guides for server deployment, STIG remediation, GPO cleanup, and script version controlling. Your expertise will ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of our Windows environment and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Active Directory Management: Administer, manage, and support Active Directory services including user accounts, group policies, and security configurations.
- Windows Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- GitLab CI/CD Automation: Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab to streamline and automate deployment processes.
- GPO Cleanup and Optimization: Review, clean up, and streamline existing Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to improve system performance and manageability.
- System Security: Ensure the security of Windows systems through regular updates, patch management, and vulnerability assessments.
- Documentation and Standardization: Develop and maintain Markdown-based guides and guidelines for server deployment, STIG remediation, GPO cleanup, and script version controlling.
- Process Improvement: Establish and enforce policies and processes to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor system performance, identify issues, and perform troubleshooting to ensure system stability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team, other IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems and services.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
More about the Role:
The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users.
Specifically, Systems Administrator (SA) will be responsible for supporting systems and applications on a geographically dispersed Enterprise network with multiple types of servers and server applications. The SA will be responsible for system administrator functions supporting a global Active
Directory infrastructure in a mixed platform environment. The SA will
provide senior level knowledge and Tier 1/2/3 support to the customer and their components to include Tier 1/2/3 infrastructure troubleshooting and support that involves the configuration and administration of servers in their area of operation.
Additionally, the SA will provide remote support and/or travel to customer servers and sites as required. The ideal candidate will have experience maintaining and supporting network devices consisting of primarily Cisco routers and switches. Using this knowledge the system administrator will be successful in providing necessary administration and maintenance support of this system.
Ensures the security of business systems and applications, mitigating new vulnerabilities to meet the latest Cyber/IA requirements. Reviews and prepares documentation for systems, tests and installation of software.
Investigates and recommends methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Administers systems/environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules. Interfaces with vendors for trouble calls. Supports the planning of system/environment requirements for individual projects. May provide work direction and guidance to others.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or related experience (9 years I believe for TESA) with qualification under TESA.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Windows Systems Administration.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, and related technologies.
- Extensive experience with GitLab and CI/CD pipeline automation.
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
- Familiarity with network protocols and services (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of security best practices and tools.
- Proven experience in documentation and process improvement.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar. CASP+, CISSP or relevant IAT Level III certification.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Linux systems administration.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$75,200 - 158,100 USD
