The Senior Sustainability Supervisor is responsible for leading the sustainable agriculture program for Ingredion Thailand’s tapioca supply chain, in alignment with the Sustainability Agriculture Initiative (SAI) standard. This role involves not only developing and implementing the SAI standard but also advancing Ingredion’s leadership position in sustainable agriculture in Thailand. This includes the development of regenerative agriculture projects aimed at measurably reducing Ingredion's carbon footprint. The role requires close collaboration with the wider agribusiness team, as well as internal and external parties within the supply chain and industry groups, to ensure the success of Ingredion's sustainability program.
Core Responsibilities:
- Sustainability Strategy: Develop and execute both short-term and long-term strategic plans to achieve 100% sustainable sourcing of tapioca. Communicate a clear and coherent sustainability strategy that aligns with the overall business strategy. Lead the team in conducting effective sustainability self-assessments (Farm Sustainable Assessment), identifying gaps, setting goals and targets, and developing actions to strengthen the program. Prepare and conduct management reviews in accordance with sustainable program standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with external stakeholders on regenerative agriculture and sustainability projects to create a larger impact on growers and deliver measurable benefits to customers. Support farmer engagement with new technology to effectively communicate data and provide support. Understand the needs, expectations, and concerns of stakeholders, and communicate sustainability performance, achievements, and challenges. Foster collaboration and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Sustainability Innovation: Develop and implement plans to reduce environmental footprints, enhance social impacts, and increase economic benefits. Work closely with Agriculture Experts/Managers to identify and develop sustainable solutions and practices for a sustainable root supply. Monitor and evaluate the outcomes and impacts of sustainability innovation projects and share best practices and lessons learned.
- Sustainability Education: Design and deliver training programs, workshops, and events that raise awareness, build knowledge, and develop skills on sustainability topics. Create and disseminate internal communication materials, such as newsletters, intranet posts, or podcasts, that showcase the corporation's sustainability stories, achievements, and challenges.
- Care First: Report potential risks that might impact worker safety, the working environment, or food safety management systems to upper management or identified persons. Coordinate root cause analysis, set up corrective/preventive actions, and summarize reports. Collaborate on the implementation of Food Quality and Safety Management systems according to company policy.
Qualified candidates will have:
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree
- Passionate and has good understanding about sustainability
- Proven work experience in sustainability (focusing on farmers and suppliers)
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment, with strong negotiating skills and strategic thinking
- Excellent communication in English, both written and spoken
- Highly mobile – ability to travel domestically for site visits
