Senior Specialist Tax LACAR
Location: Mexico City (Hybrid)

In This Role, a Typical Day Will Include:
Performance Management and Service Delivery
- Lead and prepare the tax reporting package, ensuring compliance with Alcon’s Manual of Accounting (IFRS) and global tax requirements for the LACAR region.
- Oversee tax compliance matters, including indirect taxes, corporate income tax, withholding taxes, stamp duties, capital gains taxes, and transfer pricing.
- Manage tax account reconciliations and ensure accuracy in tax accounting and reporting.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks through proactive monitoring and reporting.
- Ensure all tax processes, policies, and controls are fully defined and documented, supporting SOX certification and other compliance requirements.
- Provide expert tax advice to internal stakeholders and collaborate with tax advisors to ensure alignment with local tax laws.
Compliance
- Ensure adherence to local and international tax regulations (OECD/BEPS) and company policies.
- Serve as the main point of contact (SPOC) for internal departments and external tax advisors, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and deadlines.
- Lead responses to tax authorities, manage legal tax processes, and liaise with internal and external auditors on tax matters.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation and explanations are provided.
- Execute or coordinate tax compliance activities, including preparation and submission of all required tax returns and obligations.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with finance, legal, and external advisors to ensure proper tax planning and compliance.
- Support cross-functional teams on tax matters impacting business operations.
- Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders and external tax authorities to proactively address tax-related issues.
- Provide guidance and training on tax compliance and reporting best practices.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s or advanced degree in Tax or Accounting preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in tax, with a strong background in tax compliance and tax accounting.
- At least 3 years of experience in Tax Departments, with a solid understanding of tax reporting and compliance.
- Experience working with multinational corporations, preferably within the medical or pharmaceutical industry.
- Knowledge of IFRS (preferred) and financial controls impacting taxes.
Technical Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of direct and indirect tax compliance, including all types of tax returns and obligations.
- Strong expertise in tax accounting and tax reporting, including current & deferred tax provisions.
- Familiarity with transfer pricing regulations (preferred).
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP/ORACLE preferred) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to support internal and external audits by ensuring accurate tax reporting and documentation.
