BPA Manager R&D COEs

As a BPA Manager R&D COEs supporting the R&D Finance Team, will provide analytical support, intelligently challenges status quo and simplify/standardize outcomes. The role is responsible for monthly variance analysis accompanying concise commentary, delivery of accurate Monthly business review/presentations, and assessment of risks and opportunities. During planning cycles, the role will consult with global line functions and franchises as appropriate, as well as collaborating with local business partners to ensure proper allocation of resources, Opex and CapEx expenses.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Lead month end process for COE functions under scope, demonstrating business understanding, curiosity, and conveying explanations and actions in an effective manner
- Lead forecasting, annual budgeting, Strat Plan and performance management processes
- Act as Finance liaison with COEs key functional leads, as well as partnering with Clinical EUMDR team group to manage CRO spend; including review and approval of new contract.
- Financial lead on CapEx process for EUMDR
- Ensure adequate accounting, reporting and controlling systems are in place to reach adequate levels of forecast accuracy, to be able to timely identify and inform of potential risks and opportunities and to ensure delivery of productivity targets
- Disciplined use of financial systems (ASPIRE, APMR, SAP, etc.) to manage and perform analytical analysis of financial results
- Ownership and accountability of data integrity
- Identify, prioritize, and lead process improvements to drive value creation
- Support Director of Finance on special projects and ad-hoc analysis, etc.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- BS degree (5+ years of experience); MS degree (2+ years of experience) on finance or related
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Proficient in financial systems SAP and BI, with ability to identify and retrieve cost information at a granular level.
- Prior finance operational experience with practical knowledge of relevant processes and shared service experience a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national, matrix organization, exhibiting leadership qualities
- Excellent people and communication skills
- Ability to critically review and improve initiative metrics
- Problem solving mindset, with a strong passion for driving a simplification agenda
- Ability to work in a very demanding and resource constraint environment
- Proven track record for achievement, results-oriented
- Excellent written and verbal English skills, along with quantitative, interpersonal, and analytical skills
