JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Specialist I, Supply Chain and Procurement is responsible for the tactical procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services to be used by the organization. This individual will utilize expert knowledge and material planning skills to purchase goods and services at the most favourable total landed cost for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers and key stakeholders.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determining the requirement for supplies and materials to be inventoried and purchased using the master production schedule, inventory data and other data master files.
  • Develop and maintain min/max levels for stock inventory and adjust with the needs of the company.  
  • Initiate electronic requisitions for the purchase of materials.
  • Develop and run MRP tools including the maintenance of data files that support those MRP tools.  
  • Analyze materials supply patterns and collaborate with management and planning for the material demand and forecast.
  • Work with internal departments to help resolve material supply issues, manage material changes, and overall support the timely delivery of materials to the operation.
  • Work with external vendors when required, communicating the materials supply, to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Maintains surveillance over inventory to assure safety stock is maintained to support manufacturing, but also minimizing obsolescence and short dating.
  • Prepare reports as related to inventory for Senior Management and Project Management. 
  • Prepare project specific project reports for the project management group as required.
  • Oversee, guide, and provide supervision of Procurement and Materials team members.
  • Manage vendor contract negotiations, terms and conditions and Master Service agreement
  • Expedite, cancel /defer, and ensure purchase orders are aligned to support Requisition need dates
  • Evaluate vendors based on performance and delivery to hold vendors to contractual obligations.
  • Work with vendors to improve and enhance cost effectiveness, quality, delivery, and lead time.
  • Resolve the daily tactical supply chain issues; Backorder resolution, Open Order Expediting, Lead time management, Vendor and/or Manufacturer production issues, etc.
  • Negotiate and settle with vendors: damage claims, rejections, losses, returns, over shipments, cancellations, and discontinuations.
  • Develops, monitors, and implements procurement policies, practices and strategies as required by business needs.
  • Maintain master data and setup new item codes in Microsoft Great Plains. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­
  • Supports/Promotes continuous improvement projects, including process and materials improvement options.
  • Act as back-up to the Manager, Procurement in support of the material planning and procurement function during vacations, or during peak work volumes.
  • Other duties and tasks as required in support of procurement function and timely material supply.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Substantial experience in procurement, supply chain management, and materials planning within a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of the complexities of global supply chains and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end procurement processes, from vendor selection to purchase order management, contract negotiation, and vendor performance evaluation.
  • Strong ability to analyze materials supply patterns, manage inventory levels and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize material demand forecasting and procurement strategies.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, managing vendor performance, and resolving supply chain issues related to delivery, lead time, and quality.
  • In-depth understanding of GMP in a pharma manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance in procurement and supply chain activities.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to resolve tactical supply chain challenges.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite suite (particularly Excel and Word).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional
  • Progressive experience in Procurement.
  • Ideally will possess a B.Sc. or equivalent in a related field.

  • Availability to work remotely and potential travel as required to support the position.
