We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager. This position will play a key role in day-to-day management of our software team. This position can be filled remotely and requires US Citizenship. Travel to our Knoxville, TN office is expected regularly in this role. Activities:
- Leading daily Scrum/Stand Up meetings, taking notes, and driving follow up actions
- Conducting code reviews of Pull Requests (PRs) in GitHub
- Monitoring CI/CD pipeline telemetry and outputs to manage overall software quality, security, and performance
- Troubleshooting code issues, assisting with refactoring, and mentoring the R&D team members
- Ensuring that Sprint activities directly support and align with the Chief Technology Officer’s (CTO) vision and product roadmap
- Prioritizing bug fixes, security remediation activities, and other day to day tasks
- Timecard review and approval for R&D staff
- Ensures documentation is available on RegScale.com for customer support
- Manages training, travel, and other discretionary budgets in R&D as approved/delegated by the CTO
- Coordinates Tier 3 response to customer service tickets
- Conducts weekly 1 on 1 sessions with all R&D staff to provide management feedback
- Completes other management duties as assigned by the CEO and CTO
- Develops Position Descriptions, conducts salary research, interviews prospects, and recommends hires to the CTO
- Establishing annual employee goals, conducting performance reviews, and documenting feedback to support Human Resource (HR) processes
Required Skills:
- Developing and monitoring employee goals, providing feedback, and addressing performance related issues
- Developing standards, procedures, and tools for managing software engineering efforts
- Conducting code reviews, enforcing code quality standards, and refactoring code as required
- Familiarity with modern GitOps, branching, merging, and deploying code in containers leveraging Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines
- Familiarity with DevOps processes and technologies to support software engineering processes
- Deep knowledge and experience with Agile/Scrum processes
- Business analyst skills to progressively elaborate requirements and user stories
- Familiarity with ITIL processes for Incident, Problem, and Change
- Resource management including prioritizing staff tasks, aligning skills to critical work activities, and measuring progress towards goals
- Technical writing for user manuals and Knowledge Base (KB) articles
- Ability to review code and ensure quality for the following languages: Angular, .NET Core C#, and Python
Education/Training, Qualifications, and Certification:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar technical/engineering degree and 10 years experience, or
- Minimum of Master’s Degree in Computer Science or similar technical/engineering degree with 7 years of professional experience
- Non-degree - minimum of 20 years experience in IT
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience in a technical role
- Agile/Scrum and or Project Management certifications desired
- Strong written and verbal communication skills while being a team player
- Must be a US Citizen and capable of passing a background check and random periodic drug testing
