JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Software Engineer, under general supervision, analyzes, develops and modifies complex software programs. Leads project teams to define specifications for complex software programming applications and modifies existing applications. Supports business leadership in the analysis of software and hardware system needs, options, risks, costs and impact on business processes and goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and modifies complex information system programs. Leads project teams and defines specifications for complex software programming applications and modifies existing applications.
  • Improves software performance by investigating problems, developing specifications, identifying trends in technology, and recommending, integrating and documenting solutions.
  • Identifies system requirements by interviewing users, interviewing and selecting vendors (if applicable), analyzing applications, evaluating existing and proposed systems, and recommending solutions.
  • Independently analyzes and isolates application issues and performs problem resolution.
  • Monitors progress of larger software-based projects by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.
  • Improves systems performance by investigating problems, developing specifications, identifying trends in technology, and recommending solutions.
  • Works as part of a team.
  • Mentors colleagues in software engineering best practices
  • Performs code reviews of junior software engineers and provides constructive feedback on any findings, both verbal and in writing.


QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • The ability to clearly communicate with technical and non-technical customers and staff.
  • 5-7+ years of professional experience with following skills:
    • Full stack development with experience in React + Redux, ExpressJS, NodeJS and Amazon Web Services
    • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
    • Familiarity with newer specifications of ECMAScript
    • Experience with relational and non-relational database structures - SQL/NoSQL (Mongo DB)
    • Experience in working with REST, SOAP services integration
    • Comfortable with version control tools like Git and GitHub
    • Experience working with .NET/ .NET Core is a plus
    • Experience working with SQL Server, T-SQL, creating SQL scripts, stored procedures, views, triggers, user defined functions are a plus
  • Good grasp of formal software development lifecycle fundamentals
    • Software maintenance experience, including handling code management and documentation issues. Skilled at debugging software and identifying syntax, coding, and design errors.
  • Practiced software documentation skills, including developing requirements specs, commenting code, and creating unit test plans.
  • Object oriented analysis and design.
  • Iterative and Agile software development methodologies.
  • Desired Skills/Experience:
    • ReactJS, ExpressJS, NodeJS and Redux
    • MongoDB or similar NoSQL
    • AWS Experience
    • Caching Methodologies
    • Mobile (HTML optimizations and/or native app development)
    • Git/GitHub
    • Learning Management System (LMS) experience (SCORM/TinCan API/xAPI)/AICC

Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $105,000-$125,000 of the salary range and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.
All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. The target for this position is 10% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.
We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
