The Senior Software Engineer works throughout the software development life cycle and performs in a utility capacity to create, design, code, debug, maintain, test, implement and validate applications with a broad understanding of various languages and architectures. Analyzes existing applications or formulate logic for new applications, procedures, flowcharting, coding, and debugging programs. The Senior Software Engineer maintains and utilizes application and programming documents to develop code. Recommends changes in development, maintenance, and system standards. Creates appropriate deliverables and develops application implementation plans in a flexible development environment throughout the life cycle.

This position will report to the Software Engineering Manager within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Quality, Maintainability, Supportability, Performance are driving factors behind the software you develop.

  • High quality test coverage is encouraged and the ability to deliver it while delivering value is your goal.

  • Helping provide observability in our applications is key and you are expected to help with the logging, traceability, and metrics your application produces. 

  • Develops moderately complex code using both front and/or back-end programming languages within multiple platforms as needed in collaboration with business and technology teams for internal and external client software solutions.  

  • Designs, creates, and delivers moderately complex program specifications for code development and support on multiple projects/issues with a comprehensive understanding of the application/database to align interactions and technologies better. 

  • Provides broad and in-depth knowledge of analysis, modification, and development of complex code/unit testing to develop concise application documentation.  Performs and advises on testing, validation requirements, and corrective measures for complex code deficiencies and provides systemic proposals.

  • Provides advice to leadership on the design, development, and enforcement of business/infrastructure application standards to include associated controls, procedures, and monitoring to ensure compliance and accuracy of data. 

  • Applies a complete understanding and in-depth knowledge of procedures, methodology, and application standards to include Payment Card Industry (PCI) security compliance. 

  • Assists with on-the-job training and provides in-depth expertise and advice to software engineers.

  • Will partner with peers to improve strategy, quality, and governance of our systems

  • Will analyze and solve performance problems, Improving application reliability and responsiveness

  • Will communicate ideas, issues, status, and outcomes with teams and managers

  • Will influence and present strategic options to  ensure needed outcomes and solutions

  • Will create technical documentation

Requirements

  • 6+ Years of experience in a Software Developer role or similar role

  • 4+ Years of experience .Net and/or .Net Core

  • Understanding of design principles, threading, real-time processing, and SQL Server DB queries and performance tuning

  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, building developer teams, and ensuring standards are aligned with best practices. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Experience developing in a cloud environment (Azure, GCP, AWS)

  • Microservices/restful API

  • Database experience (SQL, NoSQL)

Preferred Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

  • Cloud-native development experience

  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes

  • Azure or GCP cloud experience

  • Experience with front-end automation testing frameworks like Playwright

  • Working with remote teams (onshore, nearshore, offshore)
