THE ROLE
PlayOn is looking for a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll focus on designing, building, and maintaining scalable applications that deal with money movement and payment systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop cloud-based solutions that improve user experiences and help us deliver an exceptional platform for high school sports ticketing and streaming.

THE OUTCOMES WE EXPECT
Drive accuracy of payment processing and revenue generation through the maintenance of our current platform as well as new feature initiatives.
Key result: Ensure accurate payouts through our settlement processes, resulting in schools trust of our solutions.
Key result: Ensure proper implementation of payment processor and accurate collection of taxes.
Key result: Ensure proper reporting to our finance and accounting teams.
What you'll do
- Design and develop cloud-native applications to support payment facilitation and accounting
- Write high-quality, maintainable Python code that powers our platform.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to deliver impactful solutions.
- Optimize application performance and scalability for a seamless user experience.
- Ensure best practices in security, code quality, and software design.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews.
THE PERSON
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with modern frameworks and tools.
- Knowledge of cloud-native development and distributed systems.
- Experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB) in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for learning.
