Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) Data Platform Innovation & Development
Position Summary
GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.
Position Description
Our Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between. Candidate will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining open-source projects that are integral to our organization's success.
Position Responsibilities
As a Senior Engineer, you will:
· Develop custom features and integrations for Open-source software applications like Apache Superset, Grafana and similar tools
· Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
· Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle
· Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization
· Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective and utilize open-source programming languages like Python, C# etc.
· Provide support for 24x7 business critical systems
· Work independently, apply strong conceptualization, and deliver consistent results
· Maintain open-source security policies, procedures and protocols for applications supported
· Mentor other engineers
· Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
Qualifications
· Advanced programming experience in Python, C#, Golang, Java, JavaScript, frameworks/libraries like React, backend development (Flask) or other object-oriented languages (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)
· Advanced experience utilizing SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Open-source tools and services
· Experience architecting and designing new and current systems with proven understanding and extensible use of REST APIs
· Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts including DevOps framework and tools
· Advanced understanding of monitoring concepts, tooling, security protocols and products
· Architecture assessment and proposals
· Extensive knowledge of open-source tools, frameworks, and libraries
· Proven experience with OpenSSF and Linux Foundation
· Familiarity with the Power Platform suite of applications
· Proven experience multi-tasking by balancing delivery of multiple simultaneous projects, working with applications teams to deliver automated solutions with aggressive timelines
· Proven experience in troubleshooting issues across multiple applications and platforms
· Proven working experience in building and maintaining Cloud and Hybrid Cloud environments
· PowerShell scripting experience is a plus
· Python/Rust/Golang certification is a plus
· Demonstrated track record of contributions to open-source projects a plus
· Ability to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity to learn new technical concepts and adapt to new technologies quickly
· Strong critical/analytical thinking and detail-oriented skills
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
Experience
· 4+ years of professional software development experience developing complex business applications in a large enterprise environment and full stack software development
· 3+ years of experience with architecture and design
· 3+ years of experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, or another Cloud or Hybrid Cloud service
· 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary
$76,000.00 - $261,500.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
