Job Description

The Role

A Senior Software Engineer (CRM) is an expert member of our Engineering team. A Senior Software Engineer is a fully autonomous professional, responsible for improving the technical alignment, health, and engineering practices within the team.

You will develop software within the Salesforce CRM Platform, supplying to engineering quality, coaching, and mentoring entry-level Software Engineers and demonstrate passion for your craft through user centric, reliable, and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

The following are key responsibilities that the position will be accountable for on a day-to-day basis

Build

  • Guide other engineers to build, test, deploy and maintain software from development through to production
  • Improve platform health, ensuring that our systems are, reliable, resilient, and efficient
  • Drive the development of software, strengthening current Software Engineering standard methodologies, ensuring they are fit for purpose
  • Work effectively within the team and improve existing DevOps environments
  • Build and operate highly scalable and performant software in alignment with existing frameworks and SEEK’s technology strategy
  • Solve and handle production incidents through to resolution
  • Develops Cloud first software

Implement

  • Consistently write clean, well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns, and tooling
  • Improve quality and engineering subject area and strengthen team capability
  • Strengthen Agile delivery rituals and practices
  • Strengthen secure coding practises and tooling within team
  • Actively connect with others in an effective, timely manner with empathy
  • Improve a DevOps culture through effective collaboration and regular reflection
  • Improve understanding of your customers and consider their needs in all development
  • Provide operational support duties, including on-call support as per roster

Support

  • Contribute to the safety, work-life balance, and well-being of other team members
  • Be a key contributor to the onboarding of new hires
  • Help create space for other team members to articulate different opinions/ feedback
  • Improve others’ abilities through mentoring and set example behaviour

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Has created and maintained software in two or more modern software development languages
  • Experience with the design, development, support, and maintenance of Salesforce applications
  • Experience working with APIs
  • Experience with logging and monitoring/alerting
  • Demonstrated experience consistently writing well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns, and tooling
  • Experience applying and improving continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices
  • Strong experience with Design Patterns and Data Modelling
  • Demonstrated experience using modern software development practices such as Test- Driven Development, Behavioural Driven Development or equivalent experience and Clean Code
  • Experience providing operational support duties, including on-call support
  • Uses data to support decision making
  • Experience imparting knowledge and skills to help other team members grow
  • Experience contributing to internal or external professional communities of practice events
  • Significant experience working in a software engineering team and improving overall software delivery performance
  • Architecting, building, and operating highly scalable, available, performant, and secure solutions
  • Previous experience with either Sales & Service Cloud or CPQ & Billing

Salesforce Experience

  • Commercial experience with Salesforce DX (Developer Experience) and scratch organisations
  • Strong experience as a Software developer on the Salesforce platform
  • Deliver enhancements using Salesforce Apex, Apex Triggers, Lightning Web Components, Platform Events, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS
  • Ability to demonstrate Salesforce SOSL / SOQL and Lightning APIs
  • Experience with and understanding of declarative enhancement tools in Salesforce such as Flows, Process Builder, Formulas and Validation Rules, Schema Builder

  • Salesforce Administrator
  • Salesforce Platform App Builder
  • Salesforce Platform Developer I
  • Salesforce Platform Developer II
  • Salesforce JavaScript Developer I

The Senior Software Engineer (CRM) is an integral member of the CRM Platforms team, a dynamic group of experts within the larger Customer Technology Team, which encompasses members across both technical and business spheres.

Operating in an Agile framework, this team is driven by the ethos of continuous improvement and innovation in the marketing technology realm. Regular Agile rituals like stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives underpin the team's workflow, fostering visibility and iterative improvement.

You will work with roles, including, but not limited to: Software Engineers from Integration and Marketing teams; Engineering Managers; Product Managers; Data Engineers; Business Analysts; Testers; and Architects.

You could partner with people from: Salesforce Marketing Cloud team; Technical Services team; Architecture team; Engineering teams from other domains; Data Services team; and Business teams: Sales & Service, Finance, Marketing
