Senior Software Engineer - Cloud

The Cloud Platform team provides central platforms and products, governance, security and cloud enablement to all Yahoo business units. The Cloud Platforms organization enables Yahoo teams to develop, deploy, and operate products efficiently and reliably on scalable, on-demand platforms with cloud-first principles. We automate, secure and govern Yahoos significant public cloud presence. We are a high-performance team of passionate engineers who are enthusiastic about creating platform services, architectures, and programs to help our customers succeed.

Responsibilities: 

• Implement new features, architect, design, writing unit/integration tests, refactoring, fixing bugs and deploying the features

• Share responsibilities like system architecture/design reviews, code reviews, performance tuning, and production support

• Work collaboratively with engineers across the larger organization to deliver new user facing features 

• Lead engineers on the team in implementing new features and improving existing functionality

• Apply agile development methodologies to build software

A Lot About You:

You are a Cloud engineer interested in helping guide Yahoo’s transformation into the public cloud. You have worked extensively in public cloud, leveraged many of its services and built full stack solutions. In this role, you will work closely with other Cloud Platform teams to provide services which enable business units in Yahoo to get more visibility into security, governance and cost savings for their applications in the public cloud. 

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent combination of experience

• 5+ years experience building and deploying large-scale systems in cloud

• Proficient in coding in their favorite language (Go, Python, Java)

• Excellent communication, problem-solving and debugging skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AWS or GCP services

• Experience with PostgresQL or similar query languages

• Ability to drive the problem resolution process from start to finish

• Great teamwork and communication skills

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
