Senior Software Engineer, Borrow

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Borrow Enhanced Validation Team, where you'll have the opportunity to work on impactful projects that push the boundaries of what’s possible.
As part of our collaborative team, you'll play a key role in architecting solutions, implementing new features, maintaining system health, and tackling a wide variety of technical challenges. In addition to working with talented engineers, you'll partner closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and external vendors, to deliver solutions that lead the market in driving lending decisions and moving quickly.

This role requires physical presence in either Seattle, WA, or Cottonwood Heights, UT. This is not open to a remote option.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and build scalable, performant backend applications in a cloud-based microservice architecture using object-oriented programming languages.
- Shape the technical direction of the product by collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and implement innovative solutions.
- Transform product requirements into technical specifications, user stories, and tangible solutions.
- Build and deploy highly available services that deliver a seamless user experience in a production environment.
- Contribute ideas for new initiatives, technologies, and features that drive continuous improvement and innovation.
What You’ll Need:
- A Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience (with a Bachelor’s degree) or 3 years of experience (with a Master’s degree) in software engineering.
- Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and microservice architectures, with experience using frameworks like Spring Boot, ActiveMQ, Kafka, and cloud technologies like AWS.
- Strong foundation in object-oriented programming principles and software design best practices.
- A passion for delivering impactful features and solving complex problems through collaboration, not just perfection.
- A track record of driving projects from inception to completion and taking ownership of deliverables.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and React.
- Familiarity with AWS managed services like Lambda, SNS, etc.
- Previous experience in Fintech or finance.
- A passion for writing clean, well-tested code and leveraging testing frameworks to ensure product reliability.
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
