As we continue to expand our business, we are seeking a curious and passionate individual to join our team as the Senior Software Engineer Backend (f/m/d) and drive our business forward. The role is full-time or part-time and offers the flexibility to work on-site at our Leipzig headquarters or remotely within Germany.

What Will Your Role Be

In our Spread Group IT Department you can expect exciting tasks reaching far beyond standard e-commerce solutions. Our platform is exceptionally versatile and poses exciting challenges to software architecture and development. Every week, about 100.000 designs are uploaded by our community of designers. They are sold through various channels on all kinds of print-on-demand products. As part of the interdisciplinary and agile working Search & Distribution team you will ensure that all these products can be found by our customers. No matter if they are using our on-site search or Google. In addition, we also develop software to feed search engine marketing platforms and create internal tools to curate external marketplaces like Amazon and Ebay. 

Our Tech Stack & More 

• We develop with Kotlin + Spring Boot and Typescript + React. 
• We store in MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB. 
• We deploy to Kubernetes. 
• Our on-site search is provided by a powerful Elasticsearch cluster. 
• We take care of our services beyond pushing changes to Git. Automated tests and code reviews ensure their quality and Kibana + Grafana are used to monitor them in production. 
• We decide together. Your suggestions on technology, architecture and implementation are always welcome. 
• Everyone has a different skillset. We like to hear and see it in our regular workshops and hackathons. 

What You´ll Do 

• Develop and Enhance On-Site Search: Collaborate with your team and stakeholders to continuously improve our on-site search functionality, ensuring customers can easily find the products they’re looking for. Work with large datasets and optimize Elasticsearch to handle the scale and complexity of our platform.
• Develop Tools for External Marketplace Curation: Design and implement tools and integrations to support the curation of product listings on external marketplaces like Amazon and eBay. You'll ensure that our products are presented in the best possible way, enhancing discoverability and sales performance.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Product Owners, Marketing, and other developers to define requirements, align on priorities, and deliver robust solutions that meet both business and user needs.
• Improve Search Engine Marketing Platforms: Build and maintain software to feed search engine marketing platforms such as Google Ads. You'll help ensure our marketing efforts are data-driven, efficient, and impactful.
• Own the Full Development Lifecycle: From designing and coding to testing, deploying, and monitoring – you’ll take full ownership of your work and ensure the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of the software you deliver.
• Innovate and Learn: Stay on top of the latest technologies and trends, and contribute your ideas and expertise to improve our architecture, processes, and tools. Participate in workshops, hackathons, and other knowledge-sharing events to help drive innovation.

• ⁠You have experience with or you are open to work in an agile team with the Scrum approach.  
• You have a problem solving mindset and you want to understand and improve business processes with your daily work.  
• You like to collaborate with other teams across the IT department. 
• Nice to have: some experience with Elasticsearch, React or TypeScript.
