Job Description
The Washington Post is seeking a Senior Social Video Strategist to support the growth of our Creator Hub, a new WP Ventures initiative focused on personality-driven journalism and dynamic storytelling off platform. This role will be pivotal in shaping our approach to creator-led storytelling and ensuring it connects to The Post’s social media strategy.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of social media platforms and trends, experience directing creator and influencer strategy, and fluency working with performance data for reporting and decision-making. They should be able to blend editorial excellence with audience insights to help maximize the reach of The Post’s journalists and engage audiences through compelling, personality-driven social video. This role will report directly to the Social Media Director.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a strategic partner to the Creator Hub leadership and production team, helping them develop and execute social-first video strategies aligned with their editorial expertise and audience goals.

Identify emerging trends, formats and platform best practices to inform the Creator Hub’s approach to social video storytelling.

Work closely with Audience and Video teams to track performance, provide regular reporting and refine growth strategies.

Leverage analytics and insights to set benchmarks, measure success, and iterate on strategies based on data-driven learnings.

Develop and lead workshops, training sessions and documentation on creator strategy, audience growth and social video best practices in collaboration with the Social, Video and Audience teams.

Collaborate with editors and managers to align creator content with The Post’s broader journalism goals while maintaining authenticity and individuality in creators’ voices.

Contribute to the assessment of the program’s impact and help shape the roadmap for future Creator Hub cycles.

Regularly collaborate with the Audience organization to refine KPIs and best practices and ensure alignment across the newsroom.
Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in social video strategy, digital audience development, or a related field, preferably in a newsroom or media organization.

Deep understanding of social video platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, etc.) and their algorithmic nuances.

Experience working with content creators, media talent, journalists, or digital storytellers, with a strong grasp of how to build and engage audiences.

Ability to analyze audience data and performance metrics to inform strategic decision-making.

Strong editorial judgment and familiarity with journalistic standards and ethics.

Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments and with journalists of varying experience levels in social video.

Familiarity with video production tools, editing software, and social media analytics tools preferred.
This position is based in our Washington, D.C., newsroom.

The salary range for this position is: $109,200.00 - $182,000.00. The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
The Washington Post’s policy for employees is five days per week in the office, with exceptions for newsgathering and general business travel.
