As we continue building and scaling our cloud-native systems and services, we are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help keep our platforms, services and experience running smoothly. In this role you will work collaboratively across many Engineering disciplines to ensure the foundation, security, and reliability that Greenlight’s platforms are built to meet the highest standards while continuing to innovate. This role reports to an Engineering Manager.

Your day-to-day:

  • Acting as a conduit between product development and platform engineering teams to ensure services meet defined SLA.
  • Facilitate identifying Service Level Indicators (SLI) and define Service Level Objectives (SLO) to assess the stability and reliability of all our applications.
  • Bringing efficiency and standardization to our Incident Management culture that thrives on continuous improvement, with a focus on a blameless culture and owning the tooling utilized throughout the incident response process.
  • Being on an on-call rotation to respond to major production incidents that impact Greenlight’s customers, document the learnings and help proactively prevent incidents.
  • Accountable for metrics and monitoring of team services in production providing data and transparency that helps to track SLOs for a product.
  • Enhancing existing services and applications to increase availability, reliability, and scalability in a microservices environment.
  • Building and improving engineering internal tooling, process, and standards with focus on mature automation to enable faster, more consistent, more reliable, and highly repeatable application delivery.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Previous experience working as an SRE or as a Software Engineer with a focus on service reliability and deployment. 
  • Strong programming skills and development background with history of working on large scale products in either Kotlin, Java, Node or TypeScript.
  • Experience implementing monitoring and alerting for services and establishing SLOs for services. (We use DataDog, but other tool experiences are fine.)
  • Deep experience with containerized technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Strong understanding of working in a cloud-native ecosystem (AWS experience is a plus)
  • Building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines (we use Github Actions and runners, but will consider experience with other CI/CD tooling.)
  • Experience working with Terraform and Helm is a plus.

Our stance on salaries:

Greenlight provides a competitive compensation package with a market-based approach to pay and will vary depending on your location, experience and skill set. The total compensation package for this position will also include a discretionary performance bonus, equity rewards, medical benefits, 401K match, and more. Greenlight conducts continuous compensation evaluations across departments and geographies to ensure we are keeping our pay current and competitive.


The estimated base pay range for this position in (NY, CA, WA): $142,000- 190,000

The estimated base pay range for this position in (CO): $142,000- 177,000
