Your Impact

Join Evonik’s RD&I team as a Senior Scientist, where your expertise in NMR and molecular spectroscopy will shape cutting-edge research and innovation. This role is a technical leadership position, driving the development of advanced analytical methods that support new product development, research, and process optimization. You’ll collaborate with global experts, R&D teams, and external partners to solve complex chemical challenges, ensuring Evonik remains at the forefront of scientific innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and operate advanced spectroscopic analyses (NMR, IR), interpreting complex molecular mixtures and structures with precision.

  • Develop, validate, and implement new analytical techniques and methods to support RD&I, process innovation, and product development.

  • Optimize and maintain high-end analytical instruments, ensuring accuracy and performance.

  • Consult with cross-functional teams on analytical problem-solving and experimental design.

  • Perform additional analytical testing (chromatography, mass spectrometry, thermal analysis, titration) as needed.

  • Contribute to global knowledge-sharing initiatives within Evonik’s technical network.

  • Maintain a culture of safety, compliance, and innovation, adhering to all regulatory and ESH standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. in Organic or Polymer Chemistry with a strong foundation in Analytical Chemistry.

  • Deep expertise in NMR spectroscopy (essential) - ideally 3 years in industry - and strong proficiency in IR spectroscopy.

  • Experience with chromatography, mass spectrometry, thermal analysis, elemental analysis, or particle characterization is a plus.

  • Analytical problem-solving mindset with a passion for driving research innovation.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic R&D environment.
