About the role
At Hargreaves Lansdown, Salesforce is at the core of our digital transformation and operational excellence. As we continue to enhance and expand our Salesforce platform, we are seeking a Senior Salesforce Developer to focus on the technical design and solutions to complex problems. Reporting to the “Design & Build” Engineering Manager, this role will build out technical solutions aligned with best practices, architectural standards, and business needs.
The Senior Salesforce Developer will play a key role in shaping the future of our Salesforce platform, collaborating with Engineering Managers, Developers, Admins and Consultants. You will guide how technical solutions are built, supporting the team and mentoring junior members.
You’ll work closely with two Engineering Managers who are responsible for “Design & Build” and “DevOps, QA, and Support,” as well as, for a period, Salesforce Consultants delivering larger-scale developments. This is a hands-on role, requiring a mix of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Development: Design, develop, and implement high-quality Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, and APIs.
- Solution Design: Collaborate with stakeholders and other Engineers to design scalable, secure, and high-performance Salesforce solutions.
- Code Review: Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.
- Platform Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of the Salesforce platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teams across "Design & Build," "DevOps, QA, and Support," and consultant-led workstreams to deliver seamless solutions.
- Innovation: Stay updated on the latest Salesforce technologies, features, and trends, bringing innovative ideas to the platform.
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve technical challenges, providing solutions that align with business objectives.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for technical designs, processes, and best practices.
What We’re Looking For
- Salesforce Experience: Extensive knowledge of Salesforce architecture, development tools, and best practices, with expertise in Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, and APIs.
- Development Skills: Proven experience in designing and developing complex Salesforce solutions.
- Deployment Skills: Experience in release management using both 2nd Generation Unlocked Packaging and SF DevOps tooling such as Gearset
- Problem-Solving Ability: A track record of solving challenging technical problems and delivering robust solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex ideas effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and provide mentorship to junior developers.
- Certifications: Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I & II, Salesforce Certified Administrator) are highly desirable.

About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality.
- Expertise in Apex, Lightning Components, and Salesforce development best practices.
- Experience with Salesforce integrations and APIs.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Salesforce Lightning Experience, including Lightning components and App Builder.
- Experience with third-party applications and integrations, such as marketing automation tools, Data Cloud, Einstein.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools.
- Previous experience in a senior or lead role.
Working Schedule
Hybrid role with ability to travel to the Bristol Office as required.
