About the role
As our organization continues to grow and evolve, our reliance on Salesforce as a critical business platform has increased significantly. We have engaged an excellent partner to spearhead new development initiatives, laying a robust foundation for our Salesforce ecosystem. However, to ensure the sustainability and continued success of these efforts, we are building out a dedicated internal team to manage and continuously improve our Salesforce offering.
The Senior Salesforce DevOps Engineer will be responsible for the continuous development of the Salesforce platform, with a focus on our DevOps processes. This role requires a deep understanding of Salesforce capabilities and best practices, in particular an optimised deployment process including the use of Salesforce Packages and other deployment tools.
Key responsibilities include
- Continuous Improvement: Developing new and enhancing existing capability on the Salesforce Platform. This includes staying abreast of new features and updates, and proactively suggesting and executing improvements.
- Customization and Integration: Building on the work initiated by our consultant, the Senior Salesforce DevOps Engineer will ensure that our Salesforce instance is tailored to meet our unique business needs and is seamlessly integrated with other critical systems.
- CI/CD Pipeline Management: Set up and manage continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines specific to Salesforce, ensuring seamless and automated build, test, and deployment processes.
- Version Control and Branching: Utilize version control systems like Git to manage Salesforce code, configurations, and metadata, and implement effective branching, merging, and versioning strategies.
- Environment Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain Salesforce environments, including sandboxes and production instances, ensuring consistency and proper configuration across all environments.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts to automate repetitive tasks such as deployments, data migrations, and environment setups, improving efficiency and reducing manual effort.
- Automated Testing Integration: Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and collaborate with QA teams to enhance testing strategies, ensuring that all changes are thoroughly tested before deployment.
- Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with development, QA, operations, and business teams to ensure smooth delivery of Salesforce applications, and create and maintain comprehensive documentation for DevOps processes, tools, and best practices.
