Senior Safety Specialist

Where will you work: Onsite at our Plant City facility: 660 E. County Line Road | Plant City, FL 33565. Our site safety specialists enjoy a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

Are you passionate about creating safe and healthy workplaces?  So are we!  Mosaic is looking for a senior safety specialist for our EHS team.  In this role you will assist management, consultants, and contractors in creating a healthy and safe workplace by ensuring we are compliant with health and safety regulations.  You will also assist in the implementation of Mosaic programs on the Plant City/Anuvia demolition project. You’ll also take on project management responsibilities to support the Plant City demolition project.  

What you’ll do:

  • Provide safety leadership, mentorship and coaching to consultants and contractors.

  • Coordinate and participate in health and safety inspections, field observations, EHS drills, incident reporting & investigation.

  • Perform safety analysis trending identifying hazards & risks and assist in developing and implementing strategic preventative/corrective actions enabling the demolition project to attain an injury free workplace.

  • Review contractor technical execution plans, contractor schedules, project Health & Safety plans, and contractor progress.

  • Development of regular project updates, and project communications.

  • Participate in weekly update meetings with contractors and site operations.

  • Provide coverage for the legacy demolition lead.

What you’ll need:

  • High school diploma/GED

  • 10+ years of health and safety experience

  • Experience in serving as a technical resource to management, contractors, and consultants, including experience in trade activities such as: rigging, welding, electrical, scaffolding, general construction, and demolition

  • Ability to present and discuss technical information with across all levels of the organization in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding

  • Demonstrated ability to present and communicate to senior leadership

  • Effectively build relationships to build credibility and generate commitment to safety related activities

  • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization and motivate others

  • Demonstrated problem solving techniques and solid analytical skills

  • Knowledge and experience in project management methodologies

  • Financial acumen for in project controls, financial planning, cost estimation and budget management

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proficiency with Intelex, database applications, and presentations

Bonus points if you have the following:

  • Professional Engineer (P.E., P. Eng.), Project Management Professional (PMP), and/or other Professional designation

  • CSP/CRSP or other designation

  • Project manager on large or high-risk projects across the business

  • Prior management system knowledge and exposure
