Job Description SummaryAs Senior Detector Design Engineer for the GE Healthcare Bone and Metabolic Health (BMH) business, you will have the opportunity to lead the design and development of detector solutions for dual-energy absorptiometry (DXA) systems for a market leading DXA bone density and body composition product line. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and new product development.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating detector solutions for DXA systems. Determine design approaches and parameters; conduct experimental tests & evaluate results.
- Work with cross-functional team to integrate detector technology with other system hardware and software and clinical algorithms.
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.
- Uses Matlab or other equivalent statistical tools
- Understanding of various compoenents invovled with X-ray & Detector technology and the implications beam geometry in imaging acquisition, dose and image quality
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Science within a related discipline.
- 5+ years of strong experience, showing career progression, within product and technology development roles.
Desired Characteristics
- 10+ years of experience
- PhD or Masters degree in Engineering / Science within a related discipline.
- Technical development and product execution expertise in medical imaging or a closely related field.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills
