In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it

The Talent Team is an effective team of globally distributed can-doers. We are looking to hire an experienced and mission driven Senior Recruiter in Africa, as we expect to continue to grow our talent team over the next 1 year, as we expand and scale our teams at Wave.

The ideal candidate is excellent at sourcing, interviewing, closing solid talent and giving an incredible experience to candidates and hiring stakeholders.

In this role, you'll;

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment for candidates (source, interview, coordinate) across various types of  roles. 
  • Source, build prospect lists and constantly identify new sourcing strategies across multiple countries.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand hiring objectives, how they work, and develop strategies to hire effectively for their team
  • Support in deepening our culture of experimentation, analytics, and learning on the talent team e.g. ensuring that our ATS (Greenhouse) contains clean, consistent, and accurate data.
  • Proactively flag problems and opportunities for improvement in a recruiting process.
  • Track and analyze metrics as part of optimizing recruitment for your roles and reporting to hiring managers.
  • Develop diverse pipeline strategies that result in fair, inclusive, and exceptional candidate experiences.
  • Deeply understand and reflect our values through the hires you make by a) ensuring that candidates experience the culture during the hiring process and b) setting the bar high with the quality of candidates you progress.
  • Mentor and act as pod lead to junior recruiting team members

Requirements

  • 6+ years of owning end-to-end hiring processes
  • 3+ years of experience working in-house, with a focus on leadership and non-technical hiring in Africa
  • Very strong verbal/written communication and stakeholder management/relationship skills
  • French and English fluency
  • Good analytical skills (understands how to build KPIs and can interpret metrics)
  • Based in one of our operating markets in Africa
