THE ROLE


PlayOn is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team. You will be an integral part of our software development process, responsible for guaranteeing the quality and functionality of our software products. You will lead the automation efforts for this fast growing product to orchestrate manual testing needs, ticket grooming to ensure complete test cases for development to automate, review the automated test code, and automate any testing gaps identified.


Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changes in the tech stack or testing methodologies may be the most important part! This group uses the latest and greatest technologies possible and changes them out at will if something better is found and we want someone who loves to experiment with new technologies and help with those advancements.


Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include:


Technical Leadership:


• Investigate new tools and practices to improve efficiency in automation and test efficiency

• Lead automation frameworks and infrastructure for the team to ensure comprehensive system level, performance, and feature level testing.

• Develop best practices for automation for automation and coding practices, mentor others and integrating with the various applications and groups VNN works with.

• Looks outside of the immediate group to avoid any testing gaps, missed requirements, corner cases, or other considerations to help promote quality across the entire organization and in the entire development process as a part of the shift left approach.


Programming Skills:


• Expert in writing clean, performant code in GraphQL/REST APIs. Experience with performance considerations and best practices.

• Understanding of API testing principles, including endpoint testing, request and response validation, handling authentication mechanisms (like OAuth, JWT), and dealing with different HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE).

• JavaScript: Knowledge of JavaScript is necessary for utilizing Playwright, especially for API interactions within Playwright tests.

• Familiarity with PHP applications and WordPress websites is a plus. 

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for frequent and reliable deployments including the set up and maintenance of pipelines, quality gates, and reporting.


Microservices Understanding:


• Knowledge of microservices architecture and its principles, including communication protocols (e.g., HTTP, gRPC), service discovery, Docker and containerization principles, and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).


Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting Skills:


• Ability to identify, debug, and resolve issues in complex distributed systems, including microservices architecture.

• Cloud Experience- AWS/GCP etc. for both setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting


Adaptability and Learning Agility:


• This may be the most important! Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changes in the tech stack or testing methodologies. This group uses the latest and greatest technologies possible and changes them out at will if something better is found.

• Experience with AI tools to increase productivity and the desire to learn more about them and integrate them into their every day practices.

• Able to thrive in a fast paced environment with lots of technologies, change, and always something new to learn.


THE PERSON


• 4+ Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and coding.

• 4+ years in a senior level position involving cross-functional coordination

• 1+ years experience leveraging AI tools for their own and their organizations velocity.

• Strong aptitude to learn and adapt to technology.
