Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager establishes and leads cross-functional strategic initiatives and works with the business to follow best practices to ensure their projects meet business objectives and are accomplished on time and within budget.  This role leads complex projects and requires considerable judgement and initiative. The Senior Project Manager ensures that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives.

This is an onsite position is located in Madison, WI; Redwood City, CA; or Phoenix, AZ . 

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Act as a project management subject matter expert to directly or indirectly lead cross-functional teams to execute on complex projects; including, but not limited to, effective creation and management of timelines, budgets, resources, risks, interdependencies, and project objectives.
  • Understand implications and interdependencies of work and make recommendations for solutions.
  • Communicate and act on opportunities to establish new methods and procedures for projects.
  • Follow established project management practices; including, but not limited to, management of scope, requirements, issues, and risks.
  • Consult with project sponsors and stakeholders at all levels to determine goals, time frame, funding, allotment of resources, and procedures for accomplishing projects.
  • Direct and coordinate responsibilities and scope of authority to team members and act as a formal or informal project team leader.
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with coordination, development, or design of projects.
  • Escalate issues when critical risks arise and maintain pulse with project activities to ensure progress.
  • Monitor and prepare status reports on project deliverables and any deviation from project plan.
  • Advise on the right level of governance by project and program.
  • Coach and facilitate teams on project management processes, tools, and techniques; including, but not limited to, process maps, value stream maps, and root cause analyses.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and team members.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple competing priorities within, and across, multiple projects at the same time.
  • Apply excellent oral and written communication and presentations skills.
  • Apply strong facilitation and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically. 
  • Ability to influence and persuade and is results-oriented.
  • Ability to work within a matrix management organization.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences locations.
  • Ability to travel 30% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in field related to the essential duties; or High School Degree/General Education Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 8+ years of progressive, broad-based project experience.
  • 3+ years of working in a client-facing project management role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications; including, but not limited to, Project, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical Laboratory (CAP/CLIA) or other regulated industry (GMP/FDA) experience
  • Molecular Biology background
  • Molecular diagnostics/NGS experience
  • Process Automation experience

Salary Range:

$109,000.00 - $174,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
