Job Description:
As a Project Engineer at Shield AI, you will play a key role in executing and delivering cutting-edge defense technology programs. Working closely with the Technical Program Manager and a multidisciplinary team of engineers, program managers, and technical leaders, you will help drive projects from concept to deployment with speed, efficiency, and precision. What you'll do:
- Execute technical programs in collaboration with engineering teams to meet performance, schedule, and budget objectives.
- Manage project coordination, ensuring seamless communication across cross-functional teams, customers, and executive stakeholders.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear and actionable insights for decision-making, issue resolution, and program direction.
- Support UAV system design and integration efforts, working within a team of hardware, software, and systems engineers.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including technical reports, risk assessments, and executive-level status updates.
- Optimize resources and schedules, ensuring alignment with program objectives while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Drive process improvements, identifying gaps and implementing solutions to enhance execution efficiency.
Required qualifications:
- B.S. in a STEM field (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related).
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, project management, or technical program execution.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with experience interfacing across engineering, leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of systems engineering principles, including mechanical, electrical, and software development.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
- Demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.
Preferred qualifications:
- Active Secret security clearance
- Hands-on experience in manufacturing, flight testing, design engineering, or systems engineering.
- Experience working on mission-critical DoD systems or within DoD acquisition programs.
- Active or ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
