About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and resourceful Community Program Manager to help MongoDB to reach and empower developers in their local communities. This role will focus on fostering engagement with developers across MongoDB and third-party (3P) user groups.
As a key member of our Developer Relations team, you will be responsible for developing and managing the user group program, supporting learning, and ensuring developers receive the knowledge they need through meaningful sessions, hands-on learning and community-led advocacy.
This role will require flexible working hours to support collaboration across both APAC and US time zones.
We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Gurugram for our hybrid working model.
As a Program Manager in our Community team you will:
- Serve as the primary driver of the MongoDB User Group program strategy, focusing on enhancing engagement through strategic community partnerships, scalable processes, and sharing product insights gained
- Develop and implement strategies to enable our community to both lead and speak at MongoDB and 3P user groups
- Collaborate closely with our regional teams and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment while supporting them to engage with our developer community
- Partner with external user groups and influencers to drive advocacy
- Track and analyze key user group metrics, providing regular reports on event activity, user insights, product feedback, and business impact
- Identify opportunities for program improvements based on data insights
Requirements:
- A proven track record of successfully building user group programs and new developer community engagement programs
- 3-5 years of experience in developer community management or developer relations. Other related roles and experiences may also be considered
- Familiarity with developer communities such as AWS, Google, Microsoft, Python, PHP, Java, C#, PostreSQL, and AI
- Understanding of databases and related developer technologies
- Strong understanding of developer ecosystems
- Excellent data analysis skills, including a focus on establishing community metrics, business impact and measurements
- Ability to thrive in collaborative environments, effectively engaging with cross-functional teams and external community members while moving the ball forward independently
- Travel 20% of the time
Great to have:
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (coding bootcamps / traineeship) is a bonus
- Experience working with databases, developer tools, or cloud providers

Key Responsibilities:
MongoDB Forums Engagement:
- Develop a structured onboarding program for new forum members
- Monitor discussions, ensure engagement, and escalate technical questions to Developer Advocates and Product teams
- Establish a moderation and to maintain a constructive and inclusive environment
- Enable discussions around product updates and changelogs
- Identify recurring topics and provide feedback to the Product and Engineering teams
- Develop a system to recognize and reward active community contributors
Third-Party (3P) & Partner Engagement:
- Actively participate in MongoDB-related discussion on Stack Overflow, Reddit, Dev.to, Discord, and GitHub
- Recognize and support top contributors from 3P communities across our global Champions and other community programs by highlighting community code and content contributions
- Work with our content strategy lead to cross-promote MongoDB content, open-source projects, and initiatives and partner with external influencers and industry experts to drive advocacy
- Identify and engage with community-driven frameworks, ODMs, plugins, and libraries, providing them with a platform to showcase their work within the MongoDB community. Facilitate opportunities for contributors to collaborate, receive support, and drive further development
Community Data & Reporting:
- Track and analyze key community engagement metrics.
- Provide regular reports on forum activity, top contributors, and engagement trends.
- Identify opportunities for program improvements based on data insights.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Community Management Experience: Proven track record in developer community management, forum engagement, or developer relations
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to engage with a diverse technical community and internal stakeholders
- Event & Program Management: Experience in organizing community programs, events, or online engagement initiatives
- Data Analysis Proficiency: Strong skills in tracking community metrics, analyzing trends, and providing actionable insights
- Technical Familiarity: Understanding of database technologies, open-source contributions, and developer ecosystems
- Self-Motivated & Independent: Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, and drive strategic initiatives
Nice to Have:
- Advanced experience in project management and strategic planning
- Familiarity with MongoDB and adjacent developer communities
- Experience in building contributor programs to drive community engagement
- Background in developer advocacy, open-source contributions, or technical evangelism
