About the Team: 

The Legal team at Relativity Space is responsible for identifying and managing risks across the organization to ensure Relativity is adequately protected through its rapid growth. Our legal team manages intellectual property, contracts, and ensuring compliance, among other responsibilitiesUnique to Relativity’s fast-paced startup environment, this team is given the opportunity to work across many teams to support Relativity's ambitious goal of building the next great launch company. 

About the Role:

Relativity is looking for an entrepreneurial trade compliance professional to take primary responsibility for the management and enhancement of Relativity Space’s Trade Compliance Program. This role, reporting to the Assistant General Counsel - Regulatory, will play a critical role in developing and implementing company-wide compliance programs tailored to Relativity’s operations, conducting risk assessments of current export activities, and ensuring adherence to legal standards and ethical practices.  

  • Management of Relativity’s company-wide global trade compliance program 
  • Prepare export license applications and related filings, including ITAR Technical Assistance Agreements and EAR License applications 
  • Support day-to-day compliance program activities (e.g., conducting restricted party screenings, new business partner due diligence) 
  • Maintain effective compliance record-keeping and tracking using tools like Smartsheet, Confluence, and Jira 
  • Conduct periodic compliance program reviews/audits and assist in investigations 
  • Support the continuous improvement of compliance processes related to all of the above topics, including updating policies and procedures 

About You:

  • Minimum 4 years of full-time experience in an export compliance role 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills with all audiences (engineers, staff, legal counsel, external contacts, etc.) 
  • Familiarity with Relativity’s technologies and their classifications across applicable export control jurisdictions (ITAR, EAR, etc.) 
  • Understanding of business processes and ability to successfully implement changes to business processes 
  • Ability to build effective cross-functional relationships and collaborate across different organizational teams 
  • Sound judgment when evaluating information for compliance risks 

Nice to haves but not required:  

  • Previous experience as an Empowered Official 
  • Previous experience with USML Category IV and ECCN 9x604 items 
  • Previous experience working for a manufacturing company 
  • Familiarity with Confluence, Jira, and Smartsheet

Hiring Range:

$140,000$178,000 USD
