The Customer Education organization is focused on accelerating customer adoption of Cloudflare's products by creating thoughtful, scalable, easy-to-use learning and certification experiences to help customers develop the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to get the most out of Cloudflare's solutions.
The Program Manager for Certifications Test Development is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, high-stakes certification exams for Cloudflare. Through thoughtful leadership and expertise, the Program Manager will build an exceptional certification program that increases product adoption and utilization, reduces risks and support costs, and enhances the customer experience. This is a new role and capability, so this position is responsible for creating the strategy and planning for the certification department, executing the day-to-day activities of creating and maintaining certifications, and managing external vendors. The role reports to the Senior Director of Customer Education.
What you'll do

  • Certification Strategy- Develop and execute the company's overall certification strategy, roadmap, and timelines to grow a high-quality certification program that will validate the skills, knowledge, and abilities of professionals in cloud security. Identify, document, and develop mitigation plans for risks and consistently optimize certification processes for future cycles.
  • Certification Exam Creation- Lead the end-to-end development of new certification exams by training SMEs, conducting job task analyses, crafting item writing assignments, facilitating technical item review sessions, overseeing standard settings, and building new exam forms.
  • Certification Exam Marketing- Partner with Marketing and Sales to promote the certification program, increase its visibility, and ensure its adoption in the industry. Oversee the planning, management, and marketing of live certification events.
  • Vendor Management-Manage the RFP process to select the exam vendor responsible for item banking, test delivery, and psychometric services. Be the main point of contact between the testing vendor(s) and the enterprise.
  • Certification Exam Maintenance-Supervise the maintenance and regular updates of certification exams by continuously reviewing and evaluating item performance data. Effectively partner with psychometric support and SMEs to ensure continued exam validity and reliability. Cultivate strong relationships with the product management and team to proactively address software updates that could impact exam content.
  • Internal Tracking and Reporting-- Analyze program performance, gather feedback from stakeholders, and make data-driven decisions to enhance the value and effectiveness of the certification offerings. Create and deliver clear, succinct dashboards for leadership and stakeholders, communicating key certification metrics and milestones.


Examples of required skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychometrics, technical writing, or a related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in certification exam development for a global, technical audience.
  • Experience and proven track record in building a certification program from the ground up.
  • Deep knowledge of exam development best practices.
  • ICE-CCP Certified highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with multiple Cloudflare teams including Product, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Support to ensure development of the highest quality tests for a global customer base.
  • Experience in selecting, implementing, and managing certification software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision making.


Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

  • For Colorado, Georgia, and Texas based: Estimated annual salary of $143,000.00 to 175,000.00
  • For New York City, Washington, DC Metro and California based (excluding Bay Area): Estimated annual salary of 159,000.00 to 195,000.00
