The Opportunity
The Sr Program Manager of Business Excellence will be based in the Global Quality Excellence Program Management Office for the Diabetes Care Division in Alameda, CA. We’re focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.
The position is responsible for the design and execution; and ongoing management, of programs with a quality assurance lens. The role leads and contributes to strategic and complex new programs, as well as, process improvement projects aligned with divisional goals and imperatives. Collaboration with a cross-functional team will be essential. Focus areas may include: customer experience improvement, product troubleshooting and documentation optimization and overall quality assurance feedback loop effectiveness. Process, content, training and/or system improvements within the quality organization and/or dependent functions may also be in scope. Imperative to this role will be its driving compliant implementation and maintenance of programs aligned to the Division's Quality Management System. The role is accountable for delivering strategic and measurable results from the application of process efficiency and improvement methodologies (eg Lean, 5S) with effective change management.
What You’ll Work On
- Leads and contributes to strategic, complex process improvement projects and new programs in the division with a blended business excellence-quality assurance focus.
- Delivers strategic results in conjunction with division goals and objectives.
- Evaluates business and quality processes and determines initiatives that will yield greater productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness to enable growth.
- Establish relationships with business partners to develop strategies that incorporate value, risks, operational impacts (ROI) and cost of proposed solutions with focus on economic profitability, customer service and quality assurance.
- Acts as a cross-functional change agent to drive and sustain new program launches and/or process improvements.
- Provide oversight and coordinate necessary teams to prepare, execute and govern a large program consisting of multiple workstreams.
- Collaboratively support directors and other internal and external stakeholders with organizational, project/program and portfolio management.
- May lead staff and key participants to deliver divisional commitments.
- Create a comprehensive road map of project plans and business case to execute program strategies.
- Forecast and communicate resource/funding needs to ensure program success while maintaining appropriate cost levels.
- Identify quality related metrics to consistently measure program status and effectiveness of implemented solutions. Oversee delivery of accurate quality reporting to the overall program leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 9 years professional experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Knowledge of Lean tools such as standard work, 5S and Shingo.
- Proven ability to facilitate cross-functional change.
- Experience delivering significant strategic results for business process improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry.
- Experience in customer service and/or technical support in healthcare.
- Project and/or program management certification
